COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special bottling of Innis&Gunn has been matured in rare oak barrels from a famous distillery in Ireland. These barrels had been used to mature one of the great triple distilled Irish whiskeys. The result of this unique maturation is a big, full flavoured, complex beer with a delightful warming finish.

Black, or maybe a very deep red. Not much head. Smells like vanilla and chocolate and coffee, and just a little bit of whiskey. Flavor is fairly sweet chocolate, vanilla and coffee, with the Whiskey becoming more prominent as it warms. Not bad, actually. May be my favorite from this brewery.

330 mL bottle. (Bottle says 6.7%). This is not their usual base beer, so that’s a plus. The base seems to be a fairly mainstream, sweetish stout. The cask is more subtle than their usual smash-you-over-the-head offerings, so that’s a plus as well. Not bad, really. Would actually like a little more Irish Whiskey in this one. Preferably Black Bush.

Nice dark color, thin head that dissipated quickly. Chocolate and caramel flavors, with just a slight bite. A good overall brew, but there are better. Still worth trying, definitely would not turn it down.

Bottle from craft beer outlet shared with Linh and family. Pours a deep hocolate amber body somewhere between a deep brown ale and a stout. Aroma is lots of roast, sweet whiskey and oak. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of whiskey, sweet toasted malts, light cocoa, toffee, caramel malts and roast. Interesting - and I wouldn’t have pinned this to be a stout necessarily.

northropfrye (3593) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - MAR 16, 2013
Dark body, but light penetrates it when held up to light, offwhite head, large bubbles, not much lacing. Aroma is fainter than I expected, roasted malts, slight bit of booze.Taste is again roasted malts and a backbone of whisky, a touch boozy. Better once it warms up a bit. Not bad.

Bottle. Black colour with large creamy light brown mostly lasting head. Aroma is roasted malt with notes of wiskey. Spicy flavor. Creamy palate.

Good and very scent. Decent with flavor. Not so much to taste. I do not really know what to think about this beer. But it was okay to drink.

Draft at brews. pours black with almost no head. There is seriously like no aroma to this brew, i get a slight smokey chocolate aroma, needs an aroma boost for sure. Taste is so so, hints of dark fruit and semi sweet chocolate, not getting anything from the barrel. meh.

Draft. It is a smoky, baconny beer that would fit more under the smoked category. By far the best beer from these guys. Ironically it is on tap.

Pours black with a marginal head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, and slight whiskey aroma. Taste is chocolatey, coffee, roasted nut. Bold taste that fades to a slight metallic taste. Still quite yummy.
