Dark brown with creamy foam. Not much aroma. Mostly malt. The Irish whisky is not very evident. Its there but subdued. Id say is a good stout but the barrel aging is a little weak.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 10/2017. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a small fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark bread, whiskey, and toasted oak; with light nuttiness, smoke, char, raisin, plum, fig, molasses, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, whiskey/oak chips, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark bread, whiskey, and toasted oak; with light nuttiness, smoke, char, raisin, plum, fig, molasses, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark bread, whiskey, toasted oak, light nuttiness/smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, whiskey/oak chips, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.4%. Overall this is a very good oak aged English stout style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, whiskey/oak chips, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Not as heavy on the yeast influence as I expected; but had a really nice presence of the Irish Whiskey/oak character, with well rounded and balanced stout complexity. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle share with Theydon on 68012. Clear down brown with tan head. You get the whisky in the nose and taste. Malt caramel toffee notes. Decent

Bottle on the train to Brum, thanks to Sharon, 04/02/17. Black pour with a well presented khaki head. Nose is sweet malts, toffee fudge, coffee creme, light roast, brown bread. Taste comprises light oak, subtle whisky, cocoa powder, fruit cake, light spice. Medium bodied with a bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough barrel aged stout ... The best Ive had in this range if a little on the simple side.

330 ml. bottle bbe Oct 2017. Deep brown-black with a thin covering of foam. Nose is mocha, charred wood and dark toast. Flavors of toffee, chocolate, lightly tart berry and a bit of toasted oak. Medium body is drinkably thin. Smooth medium carbonation and a nice balance.

A dark brown stout with a thick frothy lacing brown head. In aroma loads of caramel and butterscotch, with light chocolate and vanilla notes, nice and smooth. In mouth, sweet fruity caramel and chocolate with vinous notes, butterscotch, vanilla, light woody notes, a bit cloying. Bottle from LCBO. BB Dec 2014.

This was quite nice. Almost black beer with an off-white head. Strong aromas of roasted coffee and burnt malt. Flavors are dark coffee, some dark chocolate, toasted grains, and a decent helping of booze. Whiskey indeed. Sweet finish is pretty smooth. Not overly sweet, more of a booze bomb, but it works.

14/20 very strong whisky flavoured beer. A stout that has a sweetness to it. Fairly complex. But like all innis and gunn beers it's not as good as their original ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This was my favourite I&G beer so far. Rich christmas pudding flavours with a balancing bitterness and a decent body, it lacks the cloying sweetness of the other I&G beers.

Bierdimpfe (575) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 11, 2016
Opaque black color with no visible activity. Creamy light brown 3 finger head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with faint legs. Flavors of liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate, whiskey, oak, molasses, faint cheese, dark grains, herbal spices. Thick bitter earthiness, yet warming and not stale. Slick medium body with moderate carbonation, a little crispy. Strong finish, dry and tongue coating with tons of flavors. Lingering grassy spices, dark fruits and roasted coffee, wood barrel, and sugary whiskey. Superb ending. Its bold but pleasant to drink, not overwhelming, but feels a little thin. Good flavors, nice balance, some freshness. Overall very good quality craft.
