COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special bottling of Innis&Gunn has been matured in rare oak barrels from a famous distillery in Ireland. These barrels had been used to mature one of the great triple distilled Irish whiskeys. The result of this unique maturation is a big, full flavoured, complex beer with a delightful warming finish.

Bottled. Very dark, almost pitch black, ever so slightly translucent, with a tan head. Malts evident on the nose. Flavor is jam packed with malts, along with vanilla, fruit and chocolate notes. Very rich and sweet. Wow!

Bottle @ friends/Boilermaker. Appearance: pours clear brown with goodbut short off-white soapy head and lacing. aroma/taste: barley, toffee, oak, whiskey and chocolate. palette: medium malty and whisky aroma, low to average carbonation, medium body, average to notable sweetness, somewhat balanced by a medium bitterness, average duration and an oily texture. Overall: nice whisky aged ale.

Bottle. Pours a dark dark brown / blackish opaque with a thin tan head, moderate carbonation. Aroma is tinny, roasty, and oak-like. Taste: notes chocolate, roast, but not much burnt, warms to an oak sweetness. Finish is malty, oaky, some chocolate. Very good; this may be the best of the I&G’s beyond the original.

A very good stout. Not as heavy as a Guinness and not as creamy, but still a fine stout.

Black with a thin white head. Aroma is bizarre, like dank wood and booze. Has a really pronounced whiskey character, but not really in a good way. Tried at Wilson and Washburn in 2017.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain, caramel), with a note of vanilla, light note of whiskey/alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy/watery texture, soft carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. As with the bourbon dark ale, this is pretty timid and plain. Not much cask influence that I can detect, just a basic porter/stout. Fair enough, but ordinary and forgettable.

Bottle into snifter. As someone once said, "Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, dark bread, whiskey, and toasted oak; with light nuttiness, smoke, char, raisin, plum, fig, molasses, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, whiskey/oak chips, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength." Gotta like BA. This is a decent enough ’light bodied stout’ or more precisely ’porter’. It is mild and a tad chocolate-y, malt and smoky peat with caramel... it’s a real investigation to try to discover any Irish whiskey in the mix... I get the oakiness. Alcohol very well hidden. Just got in from a longish spring bike ride, so this decent, well balanced. easy drinking brew will not last ’til I finish this review. I could drink a bunch of these.
