Kith & Kin is Scots for ‘friends & family’, which perfectly captures the spirit of this collaboration between two pioneers of our craft. Kith & Kin is a rich Scottish stout aged in Teeling Irish Whiskey barrels. Brewed with a big hit of chocolate malt, to create a flavour packed beer with dark chocolate, coffee and treacle, alongside delicious hints of vanilla and spice. A little barrel-magic means that the aftertaste is smooth, seductive and long.

Bottle in box. Pours a dark brown colour with ruby highlights. Mocha-coloured creamy head with good retention and a little lace. The nose is quite sweet and rich with maple syrup notes over the chocolate malts and some decent coffee. The flavours are not as sweet, but still the maple notes and coffee shows. Hints of vanilla. Kind of thin and nothing to out-of-this-world, but another decent barreled beer from this brewery.

Butelka 330ml. Czarny kolor. Piana średnia, palona, opada dość szybko. Głęboki aromat czekolady, wanilii, trochę laktozy w tle oraz delikatnych nut whiskey. W smaku delikatne , czekoladowe, wanilia dodaje słodyczy, trochę ciemnych owoców,palone słody i razowe pieczywo. Delikatnie zaakcentowana whiskey i beczkowe posmaki.dobry stout

Pretty decent. Barrel and oak seem subtle. Pours a beautiful jet black with a thin than head. The nose is rich, roasted with licorice, light earthen notes, vanilla. No sweetness but not really bitter either. Body is heavy, no carbonation. Overall kind of underwhelming.

330ml bottle (boxed): BB Nov 17. Poured into my lovely thistle shaped Gordon's glass at home some four days after it's BBD (4th Nov 17). Tan foam blanket on a dark, black body. Aroma is dark malts, chocolate and coffee esters to the fore. Taste is also chocolate and coffee first from the malts, then a little sweet vanilla. This is one of the best I&G beers I have had, only buy them if 'on offer' because they are often just a sweet mess, this however is very pleasant: too sweet for some maybe, but fine for me and my sweet tooth. Not picking up any Barrel Aging though, no spirit or oak like flavours to be found. Not as smooth or rich as some BA Stouts, but the alcohol level isn't high either: still enjoyed it.

330ml bottle served cool in a Powers whiskey glass. Black as pitch with a thin tan head. Aroma of vanilla, rust, and chocolate. Chocolate is the predominant flavour, with some ash, merlot and liquorice. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Just a whisper of Irish whiskey. One of Innis & Gunn's better efforts.

0,33l Flasche. Schwarzes Bier mit rotem Touch, beiger Schaum. In der Nase Rotwein, Whiskey, dunkle Schokolade, Malz. Portwein im Antrunk. Dunkle Schokolade, Pilze. Der Whiskey ist deutlich heraus zu schmecken und legt sich schön auf die Zunge. Sehr lecker.

Dark beer that has very little head. It definitely tastes like Irish Whiskey, which for me was off-putting.
