Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Originally marketed simply as Innis & Gun Oak Aged Beer. "Original" was added later.

Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Bottle. Honey golden with no head. Wood, alcohol roasted malt, caramel. Alcohol burn is as bad as some spirits. Fine in small amounts, but that's it.

Bottled, 330 ml. Somewhat opal amber one with a small creamy off-white head on it. Nose aroma and taste mostly ruled by the barrell combined with caramel, mild dried fruits, bread and herbs... mouthfeel is slick to oily. Sweetbitter gently warming finish escorted by herbs and vanilla.

On tap at Clock Block. No doubts this is from Scotland. Vanilla and barrel like aroma. Taste is again vanilla topped by whisky. Interesting.

RedSox2004 (2012) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - APR 1, 2018
Pale amber color with a small white head. Aromas of fruity malt, weak vanilla and caramel. Sweetish malty caramel woody vanilla flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel woody finish.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2018 Impulse buy as on offer in Waitrose. Bottle. Pours deep golden brown with white foamy head that lasts. Aroma of shandy Bass. Taste is bright and hoppy initially but with sweet lingering finish that I wasn’t that keen on. A bit soapy. Meh.

leoben (19) - Manchester, Lancashire, ENGLAND - MAR 31, 2018
330ml bottle from Morrisons, UK, part of their 4 for £6 deal. I enjoyed this a good bit more than I was expecting and would happily get it again. It pours an appealing dark copper but the off-white head doesn't last long. There is something sweet and almost syrupy about its taste, but not too much for my palate and nicely balanced with a bourbon wood bitterness that comes afterwards.

GoDarkOrGoHome (114) - WALES - MAR 28, 2018
Strong aroma of the bourbon as well as the toffee, vanilla and caramel. The flavours are equally as strong with the sweetness of the toffee really beginning to take over as you drink more of it. Sadly, it becomes quite sickly and syrupy and harder to get through as time goes on.
