COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Scipio (1002) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Pours a clear, dark amber with a thin beige head. Aroma contains lots of rum, and that is all that is noticed initially. But then you get some chocolate and caramel undertones. Taste has a bunch of rum offerings as well. Nuts and caramel are in there also. Sweet rum aftertaste is rather mild, but it is long lasting. Fizzy carbonation, medium in body, with a slightly sticky texture. I suppose this is ok, but I really dont like rum. If you like rum, you should enjoy this.

A bit different, I like it. First half of the mouthful is not particularly memorable, but the rum finish rounds everything out. Good for when you fancy both a beer and a cocktail.

Bottle, didnt see the date, drunk at The Haven on 4/14/17.
Clear, filtered, fairly lifeless-looking rose-peach-amber. Enamel-colored head immediately fades to nothing.
I get a lot more mushy brown sugar, caramel and light red fruits than I do any sort of liquor, let alone oak/wood. Rather blunt and in your face with no nuance or much to balance all of this heavy malt. Booze hidden beneath the sugar and I assume if there were any flaws, they were too.
Soft, slippery, undercarbonated and mushily-malted, it provides caramel, toffee, brown sugar and some slightly interesting cherry-raisin-date character with some warmth on the end and perhaps just a touch of spicy liquor (doubt you could tell blind). Pretty monotonous and completely soulless, typical mass-produced English filtered beer.

330 ml bottle. ABV: 6.8%. Thick rocky white head. Average carbonated. Aroma: coconut, chocolate spiciness, wood, nutty. Flavor is warming alcohol, nutty, spicy, oak, rice, toffee, dark malts. Sweet but not cloying at all. A great winter warmer when weather is nasty.

Poured a dark ruby red with very little head. Aroma: oak, malt and slight hint of skunk. Taste: raisins, molasses and vanilla. Would be a lot better if it wasnt in a clear bottle.

Acaro (142) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAR 22, 2017
Aroma: Very subtle resin/caramel notes and a woody touch. Appearance: Nice dark brown color with clear liquid and a thin white head. Taste: Medium sweetness and light bitter notes Palate: Medium body with thin texture and average carbonation. Subtle but long bitter finish with wood notes. Overall: It misses stronger aroma and palate. It doesnt leave a memory. Very soft flavour. Maybe too much carbonation for the style
