NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Maybe a bit better than the original version, there is still something that doesn’t totally satisfy me.

Klar colafarget med fint hvitt skum. Kjenner godt eikefatene og rom i lukten sammen med en snodig duft av smør (ufrisk). Eik i smaken sammen med en tam cuba libre. gir meg en billig rusbrus følelse.

Bottle poured into mug. Pours amber brown in color with a medium off white head. Great carmel sweetness, rich body, you can taste hints of the fruity rum in the oakey finish. One of my favorite beers in a long time.

Looks good. Has a nice lasting head, decent enough packaging. I also have a cool I&G glass. The aroma is of vanilla, oak, rum, oak, toffee, oak, and boozy beer. The taste starts out ok. Its sweet but not too heavy. As the beer gets warmer, its starts to get wretched. Not a fan. Sweet nasty puke beer. Wow. This went from good to bad in a hurry.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with no head. Scent is light whiskey cask wood and light resin. Taste is medium caramel and medium dense rum wood. Finish is very smooth. Great beer.

12 oz bottle from The Beerhive in Pittsburgh. Probably lucky to have found this just sitting on the shelf at the Hive -- have to go back to get the rest of the dusty remainders. The combo of rum and beer is perfect and produces a very smooth mouth feel and swallowing. The rum is strong, but balanced, and lingers on the palate for just the right amount of time. Hurry up and get one before they’re gone!

Noze: Cherry is very present with alcool hitting after. A small touch of caramel with a bit of spices. Nice red color but with almost no head. I tought at first that it was flat but was not the case.Very warm attack because of alcool. A lot of sugar: cherry, candy cane, sugar cane; probably because of rum infusing. For those who like beers with a lot of sugar. Would be perfect with blue cheese.

fdomig (1028) - München, GERMANY - MAY 6, 2016
330ml bottle at home in Feldkirch. Aroma is oak, rum, light bubble gum. Appearance is clear amber with a thin white foam. Taste is sweet and light bitter. Soft carbonation. Light dryness. Very good.

glassware: Innis and Gunn...occasion: Shark Tank retruns to TV!...aroma: rummy, for certain, with its trademark I&G whisky maltiness... intriguing as with all their brews...appearance:cognac-bodied, thinly headed with an unassuming white rim...palate: thick, soda-like fizzy body that has a syrup drip...taste: definitely vanilla and fruity esters combine wth an aggressive, bold strength...overall: a challenging brew that doesn’t quiet have the spive that the bottle proclaims; it is noticeably alcoholic in its exhale

Mad_Ferret (1024) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 11, 2010
Bottle. Dark amber colour. Has a sweet thick smell that reminds of butter. Taste: Malt, Fruit, Butter, Rum. After a while some heat from the alcohol appears. Not totally my cup of tea.
