COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Taste has hints of fruityness and caramel. A slightly bitter aftertaste of rum. A bit sweet, although not overpowering. Would have liked this to have a slightly more full body. Overall, its a good beer, but not better than the oak och whisky cask edition in my opinion.

A nice amber rum aroma, pours a cloudy brown color not much of a head. Taste is a light rum with notes of oak and malt, medium body with a rum finish.

Brown color, small beige head. Aromas of wood, caramel, rum and alcohol. Sweet taste with alcohol, rum, toffee, vanilla and spices. Very sweet.

Pours a very thin head but goes away fast. Has a dark coppery/brownish appearance with reddish hues. The rum is actually a little bit noticeable in the aromas with some roasted malts. Flavours are mostly sweet malts, mild caramel and toffee. Also some raisins. The rum flavour is pretty strong actually and it’s not really my type of beer mix. Slick oily mouthfeel. Not bad.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2017 Bottle from supermarket. at home. It’s a pretty good beer overall, but i was expecting more from an rhum oak aged beer, even if it’s a really pleasant highly drinkable beer.

Good taste. A taste of honey. Soft, delicious. Red color. Does not give me any toughts of rum, even the name of the beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
