Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Appearance: Deeply brilliant woods – like those one finds in a centuries old gentleman’s club in the storied cobbled streets of London – cherry and mahogany. A thick tan head fades into a carefree bubbly collar bordering a thin puddle resting in the middle.
Nose: Dark fruits explode from the mahogany and cherry depths below with raisins, dates, prunes, and figs covered in sticky saucy black strap molasses. Black root and black licorice root in the raw. Plump earthen leathery spicy grapes. Cooked and cooled raw demerara sugars.
Palate: Sweet, rich, dense, mysterious, and a bit roguish. Burnt demerara sugars and unfettered black strap molasses and the finest dark aged rum one could hope to savor. Burnt brown sugar and molasses hard candies. Intriguing addition of red licorice in the back of each swallow. Swimming amidst it all are meaty raisins, figs, and dates. Eyes closed – a fine rummy dram. Eyes open – a fine Scottish pint.
Final Thoughts: Wonderful. Sweet suppable perfection in my glass. Innis & Gunn can play around with as many barrel/wood aged varieties as their heart desires. In return, I shall aspire to drink as many as possible because I can and I want to.

Strong boozy in smell and taste. Rum notes pretty overpowering. Notes of coconut banana and hint of dark fruits. Certainly packs a punch but basically just rummy

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2017 A little boozy on the nose with hints of sweet malty caramel, taste is again boozy with a little sickly kick and of course a finish which scream rum

Together with Yves at his home dark amber colored body with an off white head and with a sweet fruity malt hop aroma a malt hop herby light sweet dry bitter taste with an alcholic bitter finish

Shared with Wim at my home during komen eten. Amber colored beer with no head and no carbonation. Malty alcoholic aroma. Full sparkling palate. Finish is sweet dry.

Belle robe ambrée / brune caramel, fine mousse blanche.

On bottle @Ølfred - Aarhus Streetfood. Pours clear dark red. Scent of bad mixed rum/coke. The texture is smooth and creamy. Notes of sweet liqourice and a hint of rum. very impressive.

Rum finish 6.8%. Bruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter met iets van karamel. De rum niet echt kunnen ontdekken, desondanks best aardig bier.
