Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

otakuden (1783) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Appearance: Deeply brilliant woods – like those one finds in a centuries old gentleman’s club in the storied cobbled streets of London – cherry and mahogany. A thick tan head fades into a carefree bubbly collar bordering a thin puddle resting in the middle.
Nose: Dark fruits explode from the mahogany and cherry depths below with raisins, dates, prunes, and figs covered in sticky saucy black strap molasses. Black root and black licorice root in the raw. Plump earthen leathery spicy grapes. Cooked and cooled raw demerara sugars.
Palate: Sweet, rich, dense, mysterious, and a bit roguish. Burnt demerara sugars and unfettered black strap molasses and the finest dark aged rum one could hope to savor. Burnt brown sugar and molasses hard candies. Intriguing addition of red licorice in the back of each swallow. Swimming amidst it all are meaty raisins, figs, and dates. Eyes closed – a fine rummy dram. Eyes open – a fine Scottish pint.
Final Thoughts: Wonderful. Sweet suppable perfection in my glass. Innis & Gunn can play around with as many barrel/wood aged varieties as their heart desires. In return, I shall aspire to drink as many as possible because I can and I want to.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2017 Again a really nice beer from this brewery. I can taste the oak of the cask and the rum gives a nice aftertaste.

Bottle at home, bought at Lidl. Deep amber coler, beige head. I like the taste, but is only because the bottle and the name mentioned "rum", I think I taste this in the aftertaste. Good beer.

330ml bottle. Nose is rum, caramel, and vanilla. Clear rusty red with a medium lightly lacing off white head. Flavor is lightly sweet, malty, rum, and a hint of background bitterness. Actually quite tasty.

Bottle at Glasgow Airport Wetherspoons. Light, oaky, hints of cask, pleasant, with vinious notes. A pleasant and decent ale, but only hinting at the depth and complexity this brewer can manage.

Bottle from a local Lidl. As "Innis & Gunn Rum Finish" at 6.8% abv. Aroma is sweet malt, oak, vanilla, caramel toffee, butterscotch, a little rum. Flavour is sweet with barely any bitterness. Body is medium. Decent.

15-09-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their September discovery box). The looks of the beer are very nice. The beer is quite dark. The color is a dark amber, or a nice coper reddish brown. The beer is crystal clear. On top of the beer a nice layer of soft slightly off-white foam is formed. Foam retention is average. After a while a nice drape is left. The smell of the beer is very nice. It is special. There is a nice malty aroma, with some bitter hops. It is hard to distinct those aromas, since there is a lovely strong oaky rum aroma. This aroma is very good. It is a lovely spicy and sweet rum aroma, with a touch of cinnamon in it and some chocolate. There is also a lovely oaky aroma there. It is lovely, very spicy and unique. Good work. The taste of the beer is also very nice. It has the same features as the smell. There are nice flavours of sweet malts, oakwood, spicy rum, hints of cinnamon and chocolate and also a nice bitter hoppy touch. I like it. It is rich and well balanced. The palate of the beer is nice. There is a nice medium body, slightly sticky texture and also a nice high carbonation. The finish contains a nice dry bitterness of spicy rum and hops. There is also a nice alcohol touch. I like it. It is a really nice beer. Nice flavours with a nice twist from the rum, well done. I like it.

330 ml bottle. Sweet smells of rum or sherry. Pours a gold brown with a thin white head. Very sweet tastes of toffee and malt. A short finish with low cabonation and almost no lacing. Interesting and balanced beer but not my favorite.

Пиво со вкусом рома. Думаю что надо пить если тебе больше 40 лет. В противном случае вас ждет довольно мерзкое газированное нечто.

haukur (2052) - Kópavogur, ICELAND - SEP 6, 2017
Dark orange with small film of an head. Slight toast and oak notes in the aroma. Huge malt presence. Slightly sweet on the tongue. There are some strange notes I cant quite figure out. Little messy instead of complex.
