NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

11.2oz Bottle. The pour was a clear dark mahogany brown with an average (1-2 finger) beige fizzy head that was fully diminishing with no lacing to speak of. The aroma was quite intense with a toasted caramel malt and a sweet earthy yeast with notes of vanilla, rum, dark fruit (raisons and plums) and a light hint of toffee. The taste was moderately sweet and malty with notes of caramel, vanilla and dark fruit throughout with a nice cask presence and a mild rum alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an average duration after the swallow with a mild boozy taste that faded slowly off the taste buds. Mouthfeel was just below medium in body with a slight syrupy texture and a mildly soft carbonation. Overall a fantastic tasting brew with a good sweet rum flavor and a strong malty presence...

Bought at Hipercor in spain for ~2 Pours a dark red color with low and not lasting head. Medium bodied and medium-low carbonation. Aroma has lots of wood, rum and sweetness. Tastes a lot of rum and a hint of alcohol. Finish is mostly caramel, too much caramel. I really enjoyed this beer but its hard to drink.

This bottled brew from a grocery store was served at a cool temperature and poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a typically carbonated body transparent light cola brown colored body and a poor lacing. . The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering aftertaste. The semi-thick flavor contained notes of wood toffee oak mild spice crisp breads and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

This $6.29 bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized bubbles that were and left behind a very softly carbonated transparent cola brown colored body. There were lots of large bubbles on the side of my tulip glass. The strange aroma was rum malty and woody. The bubbly mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of rum and malt. A decent one that I would consider drinking again.

Brown bottle 0,33L. My version is 6,8% abv. Clear, amber color with small, frothy, off-white head, that dissipate in a minute. Malty aroma with light wood notes and a touch of rum. Taste starts light bitter and crispy, slightly vinous. Finish has a bit more bitterness and rum flavor. I didnt expected much, but was positively surprised.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pours a deep copper body with red hue. Medium sized white head with poor retention, leaving little to no lacing. Nose is sweet, sugary and malty with touch of wood and liquor. Medium body with regular carbonation. Thick texture. Taste is mostly bitter with a bit of metallic acidity, some malty sweetness in the background. Strong aroma of wood and liquor. Malts, hint of vanilla and honey. Herbal and spicy. Long finish, mostly bitter with lasting bitterness on the tongue, unfortunately quite metallic. Overall, good brew. Tasty and warming, perhaps lacking a bit in balance.

Aroma is rich caramel minerals and a hint of cherry.... very english. Appearance is dark copper clear with large frothy well retaining light tan head. Taste is rich caramel forward followed by some rum sweetness with some alcohol flavor, diacetyl smooths it out. Hint of earthy hopping but a malt forward beer. Palate is medium light. A well attenuated beer that has nice and deep malt flavors. Some alcohol hotness. Diacetyl keeps this from being dry. Comes across as a larger beer. Overall the malt is unique and big here. Real depth and they have done a great job of adding to the malt depth with the rum. Too hot for being a smaller beer though. This would benefit from a year of aging IMO, it could be a real fun beer.

As Innis & Gunn Rum Finish. Pours a dark brown, clear, topped with a minimal tan ehad, non-lasting. Mild malty sweet nose with some alcohol presence. Taste is quite woody in the start, alcohol presence easily notable. Finishes with some bittery herbal feel and a bit vanilla-like in the aftertaste. Sharp, strong feel. Not very nice. A bit messy and boozy.

Bottle - 6.8% version labeled "Rum Finish" ; Aroma: sweet rum, malt (dough), predominant volatile rum flavours in retro-olfaction ; Appearance: ruby-brown, clear, tan minimal head ; Taste: medium sweetness, no bitterness ; palate: creamy, below average carbonation, medium body, short finish. A good beer, with very nice rum flavours, almost like sipping a good rum, but way more drinkable. I found it a very good beer to accompany mushroom omelette.
