The fact that it was brewed in rum infused oak barrels is evident in both aroma and taste. It goes down smooth and has no lingering aftertaste ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 23, 2013
Bottle. Pours a crystal clear deep amber body with a thick, creamy off-white head, looking very nice indeed. Nose is strong vanilla and oak tones with caramel malts and caramel pudding (loads of it here), booze, rum and hints of pepper, butterscotch and sugar. Sweet as hell, but still kind of tantalizing. Taste is sweet vanilla and butterscotch, with caramel pudding, rum and sugary grains in the back. Hints of booze and wood in the finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. A bit of a vanilla-and-rum overdose, but since I do have a sweet tooth I’m willing to let some of the madness slide. Nevertheless, it’s a bit too much in the end but definitely a taste-packing brew. Bottle from kvadrat. Golden color with off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel aroma with hints of vanilla. Fruity, malty, spicey and some lactose caramel in there but not so mutch as the plain Innis and gun has. Fruity finish SuperTiti33 (900) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 1, 2013

Clear amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate, a little soft. Mild minerally carbonation. Fresh malt cream with a trace of wood. Not really getting much rum. Mild citrus. It’s inoffensive but overall a bit of a disappointment.
330ml bottle. Poured a deep red amber with very little head. Lively carbonation with sticky sides. Aroma is light, sweet fruit with some wood and vanilla. Taste is very light spice with a medium rum sweetness and the usual I&G woodsy malt, but lighter. Palate was, once again, lighter than I expected. Overall, I liked the Winter Beer better from this year’s gift pack. yespr (48954) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - FEB 9, 2012
33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild spiced and raisins. Bitter, toasted malty, caramelish and light fruity note. Bitter and toasted malty flavoured. Metalchopz (3683) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 11, 2012
Single bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a foamy head. No lacing is found. The nose is quite sweet with loads of toffee, and balanced by nuts, wood, rum alcohol, flowers and mild vanilla. Thankfully, the taste is not as sweet. Soft caramel malt at first, grainy in the middle and a little hop comes out in the finish. The vanilla-oak slightly comes out in the aftertaste. Always nice to see a new experiment from Innis & Gunn, but this one just misses the boat a bit (pun intended). pictoman (1254) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
Poured from a 330mL bottle. Clear copper colour with dissipating white head. Toffee, oak, vanilla aroma. Similar tastes with an overlay of rum. Quite light with little finish. I don’t think the rum works as well as other finishes - seems gimmicky. cyrenaica (1159) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 18, 2012

The beer pours a red-hued gold colour with a short-lived head which disappears in seconds. Aroma is caramel, rum, wood, and light fruits. No spiciness that I can discern. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is wood, caramel, some rum, and some metallic notes. Nothing outstanding!
