Draft at FCC. Aroma is moderate coffe with dark chocolate and cocoa. Taste is roast forward but not too much. Lightly ashy. Hard to pick out the hops. chinchill (5226) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2015
Served on-tap at the brewery in Jacksonville in May 2011 (from notes). NOTE: the Asst. Brewmaster reports that the formulation of this beer has changed from the initial production; it now has far more (4X) rye. IBU = 42
Not quite black, this beer is a very dark brown with mahogany highlights and a tan head that quickly reduces to a ring.
Aroma - Rich dark roasted grains; dark roasted coffee beans.
Rich, complex and robust malt/rye flavor. Malt has a very dark roasted flavor that approaches, but doesn’t quite taste burnt. Smokey, earthy and more bitter than sweet. Fine, lingering, roasted grain aftertaste.
Full body with light/medium carbonation. djd07 (15340) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 18, 2015
On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roast coffee and rye. Medium mouth with nice roast, rye, spice, very nice.

Just like it says, this thing has a ton of rye in it. Some roast and a healthy dose of hops but the rye shines more than I expected. It’s a healthy drink and my sample was enough for me. drowland (8938) - Georgia, USA - SEP 19, 2014
On tap many times. Deep brown pour with a nice tan head. Spicy aroma, rye and pepper, light hoppiness, bready dark malts. Tasty, some chocolate, coffee, spicy rye and pepper, some pine and citrus hops. Not bad.

One of my favorites from tasting at intuition. Nice brown color. Roasty and rye spice in the nose, with earthy and grainy tastes. Some slight citrus hop and caramel malt as well. Overall, fairly robust and definitely tasty. hopscotch (11181) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 4, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Draft... RBWG 2013...Tar black pour with a small, lightly-tanned head. Great retention. The nose is a blend of dark chocolate, toasted tree nuts and only whispers of rye graininess and spiciness. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a mélange of dark chocolate, acrid smoke, burnt malts and light acidity. Lengthy, acrid, moderately bitter finish. burg326 (5594) - Florida, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Poured a black color at the brewery aromas of roast, earth, rye, and some malt. Flavors are the same, roast, hops, and rye, a nice beer overall. decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Brown black pour. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Chocolate blends with the bitter to give it a sharp dark chocolate like bitter. Medium full bodied with good carbonation. A real good beer. SudsMcDuff (8468) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAR 2, 2013
take an interesting style and add rye, love it! .. . has a unique spice and roastiness going on .. dirt and grain too .. mild mouth .. . doesn’t work perfectly but still fun to drink
.. . . picnic time!
