UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Draft... RBWG 2013...Tar black pour with a small, lightly-tanned head. Great retention. The nose is a blend of dark chocolate, toasted tree nuts and only whispers of rye graininess and spiciness. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a mélange of dark chocolate, acrid smoke, burnt malts and light acidity. Lengthy, acrid, moderately bitter finish.
Draft at FCC. Aroma is moderate coffe with dark chocolate and cocoa. Taste is roast forward but not too much. Lightly ashy. Hard to pick out the hops. chinchill (5318) - South Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2015

Not quite black, this beer is a very dark brown with mahogany highlights and a tan head that quickly reduces to a ring.
Aroma - Rich dark roasted grains; dark roasted coffee beans.
Rich, complex and robust malt/rye flavor. Malt has a very dark roasted flavor that approaches, but doesn’t quite taste burnt. Smokey, earthy and more bitter than sweet. Fine, lingering, roasted grain aftertaste.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roast coffee and rye. Medium mouth with nice roast, rye, spice, very nice.

On tap many times. Deep brown pour with a nice tan head. Spicy aroma, rye and pepper, light hoppiness, bready dark malts. Tasty, some chocolate, coffee, spicy rye and pepper, some pine and citrus hops. Not bad.

take an interesting style and add rye, love it! .. . has a unique spice and roastiness going on .. dirt and grain too .. mild mouth .. . doesn’t work perfectly but still fun to drink
