From bottle. Pours amber with white head. Aroma of toffee, nutmeg and vanilla. Taste has lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, far too much, major nutmeg party. First sip was interesting, a complete chore after that. Down the sink job.

Bottle. Really lackluster aroma - hard to detect anything here. Nice dark orange colour with solid white head. Taste is kind of sweet, cinnamon, spicy, but none of these flavours are very pronounced. Creamy palate. Credible.

50cl bottle. Pours an amber colour with a nice sized head. Without even lifting the glass, the Christmas spices are obvious. On closer inspection, the nutmeg is the obvious spice, its so obvious that its hard to get much of the malt behind though you somehow know its there. The taste is more of the same. The palate is initially interesting but really its a one-dimensional nutmeg thing. Overall, this amount of nutmeg probably has some health benefits but I couldnt see me having another.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange with an average, creamy off-white head, medium-short retention with fair lacing. Aroma is cereal, straw, grain, and honey malt with fruity esters and light cedar, cinnamon, and nutmeg notes. Flavor is medium bitterness with a nice, supporting malt background, light spices, and flavorful fruity esters. Light body and warmth, medium carbonation.

Pours a one finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Clear amber color. Nose is light malty and flavor is malt with hints of nutmeg. $5.95 for a 500ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.

Pours a very pretty bright orange with a big fluffy off white head and good lace. The aroma of the beer is dominated by a nice fresh ginger aroma, but has a crackery dry malt character and some mild bright fruit. The flavor is very dry & slightly spicy with some pepper and mild ginger. The beer has a good bready dry malty character. Overall I really like this beer.

Bottle with Carla. Pours an amber-gold with off-white foam. Smells sweet with hints of nutmeg. Tastes sweet with nutmeg and ginger with just a hint of bitterness at the end.

A: The beer pours an orange/amber color with a finger of white head that settles down to a thin layer. S: Quite a bit of spice here. Cinnamon is certainly there as well as some spicy hop notes. Bread, caramel, and toffee malts and a slight creaminess to it. Perhaps a little bit of yeast in there too. T: A pronounced spiciness to the flavor as well with some nutmeg and cinnamon as well as some spicy hop notes. Sweet caramel and toffee with a little bit of bread. M: The body is on the light end of medium with a moderate level of carbonation. D: This was an alright beer. Not bad but I dont really care whether or not I have this again.

doublebock (558) - California, USA - JAN 30, 2011
Cloudy golden color. Aroma of an American light pilsner with hint of orange and cloves. Not much complexity or personality, very light and watery with some lemon grass but too much Budweiser going on here. .
