3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 25, 2013 Re-rating from Stockbridge Tap. This time it was really pleasant - I don’t understand why it was so bad last time. It’s a keg. On this occasion the beer was giving lovely peach notes instead of the vegetable oil previouslly found.
Previous rating on 22/01/13. 3+3+1+1+2=1
On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours golden with a little bit of head. The nose is absolutely stinking of sweetcorn and vegetable oil. The taste is similarly vegetal and although I know this is a characteristic of lager, I’m quite happy to have a note of green beans but this really did smell like cold chip fat after several batches of chips had been fried in it. It’s difficult to describe the palate but I guess it’s light bodied and not refreshing in the slightest. Overall, I can see from the other ratings that the scores are hugely variable on this, so maybe it deserves another chance but I’d rather someone else bought it and I just got a small taste.
At home, 16/02/16. 330ml from Dobbies. Frothy pale gold painting the glass with lace. Warm spruce, sappy shrub and honey aroma. Taste ditto with decent if slightly anaemic conifer, grass, blossom and honey. Lemon and beeswax hints. Reasonable punt at style probably needs to be chilled to virtually frozen to be fully appreciated. zacgillbanks (5506) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - OCT 29, 2016

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a strong white head. The aroma is yeasty with a touch of dryness, and the flavour is quite sweet from its yeastiness with a lot of bitterness and dryness. Overall a nice Pilsner like beer.
