3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2011 330ml bottle. Clear deep golden hue with a small white foamy mostly diminishing head leaving delicate lacing. Nice balance of malty and hoppy aromas; moderate honey, biscuit, toffee, caramel, moderate fresh smelling grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, lychee, some pine resin. Taste is at least moderate sweet, moderate bitter of average duration. Medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, bitter then long dry finish. I’m a big fan of those tropical fruit hop aromas so I really enjoyed this beer. Very moorish, though lacking the wow-factor.
From Craftissimo's new shop. Light hazy gold-beige with fluffy white head and legs. Smells nice - peach, white pepper, yeast, apple juice malt, dusty hops. Quite Belgian, almost a light Saison, and unexpected for a pilsener. Taste is bitter, woody, lightly yeasty/spicy, less interesting than the nose, some plastic-y musty bitterness. Body is medium, fluffy, bitter. Good aroma, taste less so. Surprised it's labelled a pilsener though. HKdIPA (850) - HONG KONG - AUG 28, 2015
Bottle from new Craftissimo at home. Slightly hazy golden blonde pour with plush foamy head. Aroma is Belgian-y, with apple, pepper, spice. Is this a Pilsner? More like a light saison. Taste too. Slightly hoppy and crisp but mostly saison/Belgian flavors. Still light and fresh though. Not sure it would be a great pair for Indian curry (as it says on the label). Wouldn't get again. 330 ml bottle bought at Sips in Sai Wan.
Looks: Translucent light blonde colour with thin trace of yeast sediments; one finger head and long lasting crumpety white foam. Beautiful sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation.
Aroma: Very fragrant full malt, with refreshing strong grapefruit, passion fruits, light tangerines, apricots, floral, candied fruits, molasses, light pine, lemon and light grass.
Taste: Very light sweet full lager malt, with very light grapefruits, pine, very light resin, biscuits, yeast, spices, strong lemon, very strong bitter hops and sharp grass.
Body: Full body, thick, dry and creamy palate.
Mouth Feel: Full lager maltyness with a body so rich, fat and creamy. Wow! The rest are all hop-driven bitterness - no sweetness (incredible!), very low citrus, light resin but quite oily, strong spice and thin bready yeast. Very mean and frankly quite stunning taste. A double wow!
Hoppiness: Refreshing grapefruits, passion fruits, light tangerines, apricots, floral, candied fruits, light pine, lemon and light grass in nose. Very light resin, spices, strong lemon, and strong grass in taste.
Bitterness is strong for a lasting, high astringent spicy-bitter finish.
After Taste: Quite dry. Rich and strong bitter to mouth.
Comments: This is a NZ Pils to the extreme, with a very fruity and fresh tropical hops aroma which totally contradicts the fat, creamy, non-sweet and high bitter malty taste. I would love some nice molasses sweetness to be thrown in, but on a day if you want something sugar-free to your tongue with all this great fruits to sniff about than this is it, look no further. This is ace!
Chilled and into a tulip it goes, quick-like as it erupted once the cap came off. Shimmering, honey orange with a quickly settling sediment. Head is a good two inches of silky white foam that lasts and laces well. Light honey and toasted bread amongst spicy, herbal hops on the nose. Beautifully dry and hoppy in back with a rich malty sweetness upfront. Chewy body, well rounded with spritzy and light carbonation. Good length with medial bitterness and a touch of tangerines in the aftertaste. Very good drinking. An enjoyable and bold pilsner. (33cL, no date stamp, the Int’l Beer Shop, W. Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry, crisp yeasty, light floral citrus palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. I’m sure it’s a fine beer to accompany a curry, but then again, so is water.

Let’s set the scene: Beer from the fridge after a day playing cricket and having just mown the lawns before warm spring rain started falling. I’m at the table with a lager in front of me. I’m expecting something cold, malt driven but vaguely floral. What I got was a pils as close to what it is supposed to be originally. Brassy golden colour with a skim of bright white marshmallowy head. The aroma is of caramel-malts, buttercups and herbs. The taste is strong and malty with nods toward tangerine, roses, spices and turkish delight with a finish that is dry and spicy. There’s more to this beer than meets the eye - the label suggests a match toward curries, and yes I can see that. It is drinkable and even quaffable but it sits on a higher plane that takes it out of the after-cricket and lawnmower lagers... which I like. varanid99 (1341) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 29, 2014
Deep gold pour with a decent off white head. Nose is malt, more malt, a little passionfruit and lemon. Taste is malty, slightly sweet, with a little fruitiness, and a little bitter at the end. Easy drinking jonnyguns (1105) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 4, 2014
Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a golden with a white head. Nose is quite earthy and grainy with some lychee passionfruit in there. Taste is dry toast and earthy/herbal bitterness. Not much passionfruit in the taste. Dry finish. Not too bad.

The head is medium, body dark-gold. It smells maltintensive, hoppy, a bit alc., bit citrus. The taste is citrus-hoppy, bit alcoholic, malty. 3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 24, 2014
Metal, apples, stale crackers, DMS cauliflower and cabbage, orange gelatin. Medium body, syrupy, low bitterness, sour, seemingly low sweetness and low carbonation. Wet dog hair and nuts and granny smith apples. A pointless beer.
