Good ESB and reasonably priced. I can honestly say I’ve never had an ESB better than this, except maybe Weyerbacher or Flying Fish. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - MAR 14, 2005
Hazy orange body, medium cream/off-white head. Tangy, bready aroma with a touch of caramel in addition to grassy, earthy hops. Big bready/yeasty flavor with grassy hops and a hint of caramel. Yeah, pretty much what I expected from the aroma. Medium-bodied. This was a good beer, but not too different from many others of this style that don’t rate as highly. Thanks Tom (OldGrowth) for the bottle! Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - JUL 29, 2004
Cloudy amber/orange color.Small somewhat off white head that faded quickly leaving little behind. The aroma was Malty with a slight dried fruit maybe a hint of citrus presence and somewhat sweet as well.Malty taste with a nice mild hop presence some bitter sweetness and maybe a little toffee coming through in the middle.Nice semi bitter after taste and over all a smooth brew.Much better then i was expecting and well worth having alot more around for later. Thanks go to Oldgrowth for sending this brew my way. This beer is very comparable to some of the better English ESBs I’ve had. Thanks OldGrowth. The beer is transluscent and honey colored, little head to speak of. Aroma of crystal malt and as a guess East Kent. Flavor is slightly bitter, but most malt sweet. Perfect for an ESB. Sweet finish. Great Beer.

Bottle: Good nose. Honey and citrus, mainly grapefruit, some orange.
Brownish orange color, some sediment, though not much, small head, dissappeared quick. Again I get honey and grapefruit in the flavor. Thinner bidy, but leaves nice bitterness on tounge. Not bad considering hasn't been made in a while.

Highly hazed amber body topped by creamy, small beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, floral with some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, fresh floral with just a hint of grapefruit. Finish is earthy/floral. Mild bitterness throughout, never overpowering. Medium body, watery but in a good way. Quite a pleasant beer. vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 14, 2003
Has a clouded orange amber color with a lot of carbonation and a fruity/hop smell. Taste is of grapefruit/hops and finishes with a crisp bitterness. Overall a fine bitter beer with good flavor and looks to match. muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 12, 2003
Translucent mahogany, medium head settles into a thin wisp of cream with great lacing. Fruity, sharp aroma; flavor strongly hoppy, but with a really interesting woodiness throughout and plenty of malt in the finish. I'm tending to think this is a bit overrated at the moment, but its very good for sure. ToadMan (559) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 28, 2003
Amber hue with lots of cloudy sediment and light lace. Terrific sweet hopped aroma. Starts hoppy and crisp, finishes sweet and malty. Leaves a nice somewhat bitter aftertaste. This is what all non-dark beers should aspire to be. As everyone else has said, its perfectly balanced. UnionMade (621) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 23, 2003
Wicked ESB!!!! Deep cloudy amber with a floral fruity aroma. Hops are right up front, tapering off to a rich pale maltiness with a touch of caramel. Long sweet finish. This beer is a study in balance and perfection of a style.
