Bottle. Pours a deep brown. A roasted aroma, with a bit of nut-ness. Taste has some chocalote and a nut. Nice. puboflyons (3463) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 14, 2009
From a 12 fl. oz. bottle with no expiration date or lot number. It pours a mahogany-brown with normal carbonation and beige head. There wasn’t much lacing. The hops lead the the aroma but there also seems to be some kind of cocoa or chocolate. The body is rather average. The flavor is also hoppy with some vague chocolate trimmings. This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized brown head. The aroma was bitter, roasty and had a sharp floral hop element. The flavor was bitter, roasty, smoky, and malty with a touch of wood underneath. The finish was long, roasty and smoky. Not really my style. Ok. Full of character. Nose full of smoke, toasted almonds and hazelnut with a hint of peaty smoke. Pours a deep mahogany color with a champagne colored head. Large amount of hops and notes of smoke, toasted nuts, bourbon, and peat smoke in this lightly carbonated, deep ale. Odyn (268) - New York, USA - JAN 30, 2009
Thick brown in color with light lacing and thin head. Sort of a nutty aroma, though not any specific nut....Some chocolate taste with a hint of bitterness. Finishes cleanly.

Hazy brown with thick yeast cloud. Sudsy head fades quickly with little lace. Nutty and mild chocolate aroma, earthy and hints of dark berries. Moderate bitterness, slightly metallic, followed by toffee, a touch of cocoa and peanuts. porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - JAN 7, 2009
(Bottle from Rum Runner) Pours slightly hazy brown with two fingers of biege head. Aroma of light vanilla and brown sugar. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, lightly fizzy. Flavor of very light brown sugar and vanilla, perhaps a trace of licorice and tea. Lightly nutty. Decent, that’s about it. michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2008
12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, nuts, chocolate, and brown sugar. Poured brown in color with a small, creamy, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Fully of tiny particles. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of malts, chocolate, brown sugar, hops, light nuts, pine, resin, and toffee. Medium body. Smooth, lightly oily, lightly chalky texture. Sweet, chocolate, brown sugar and resin finish. Not too much nuttiness, but still tasty. thornecb (5993) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 11, 2008
