22oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head that quickly recedes. Nice combination of chocolate and coffee tastes with the subtle rye flavor in the background.
A little more lively carbonation than I’d like, but I like rye character in a beer and it really shines here. Good chocolate note as well. PorterPounder (8226) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2014
Atlanta, Ga. - Tower Wine & Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Pours an oily dark black with a light but persistent khaki colored head. Aroma has some licorice notes, a touch of creosote and smoke. Flavor is full of bittersweet baker’s unsweetened chocolate, some creosote, a touch of licorice and a touch of potting soil. Mouthfeel has a nice chalky feel to it. Pretty decent. puboflyons (3467) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 18, 2013
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is nice and dark brown with some vague ruby red notes and an obvious opaqueness. The aroma was of dark malts, a little coffee, and a little smoke. Also a basic sweetness to it. The body is medium to full. The taste was a bit more sweet upfront with the coffee grinds playing up the rear. It felt like a Porter should but it did not blow me away. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 7, 2013
Pours a clear dark brown body, almost black, with a one finger tight bubbled light brown head. The nose is sweet and chocolaty with a light licorice and rye accent. A touch of coffee as well. The flavor is a tad off, there’s a slight burnt rubber note that’s up front that puts me off a bit. Past that though, there’s some nice chocolate and licorice notes. Can’t say that I taste much rye in here, but maybe the underlying sweetness covers that up a bit. Medium bodied with a bit of a chewy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Not terrible, but that burnt rubber note makes it not the best overall. sonnycheeba (6259) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Bottle from sampler pack. Pours dark brown with thick, beige head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, rye, earthy hops, figs, raisins, and faint smoke. Flavor is roast malts and coffee with some dark fruit esters and earthy and spicy hops towards the finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. Smells like toffee, raisins. Tastes like coffee and burnt toast. Medium body and medium carbonation. unclemattie (4357) - Georgia, USA - MAR 7, 2013
22oz bottle. Bottled on 10/24/2012. Black pour, thick beige foam. Huge aroma of chocolate. Chocolate malt, some spiciness in the nose. Chalky flavor, huge roast, burnt grains, Italian coffee, licorice. As big as a Stout. Finishes with a bold, burnt malt backbone, dry, with a light spicy tingle.
Overall, SPICY RYE MOCHA.

New brewery to me and apparently a relatively new beer to the world with only 7 rates. I do like how the rye spiciness complements the porter smooth and chocolate notes. Nice chocolate aroma. Relatively bigger flavor and body than many porters I know. Pretty nice for a cool winter evening. Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 22, 2013
I love it when I crack open a bottle and the aroma just billows out, such as this beer. Chocolate and coffee in both nose and taste. Dark with creamy tan had. Silky mouth feel. Very good porter. PhatB420 (841) - Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 20, 2013
12oz into a stemmed boulevard glass. Pours a mild choco with some magic marker. Head fizzles quick to a ring round the glass. Islands appear. Taste is malty, dark choco, dry, bitter, the rye doesnt fully come into play until the resulting aftertaste after a few endulgements. Rye ipa aspects do play a role in the aroma as times continues. A nice full bodied brew with substantial porter like contributions, but also along the dark lager lines, which is a nice winter treat. Good brew.
