It pours with a dark body that supports a mocha looking head of foam. The aroma seems to be cola, some spicy anise, dark fruity esters, ginger and pumpkin like spices. The taste is sweet with sugary malts, a dash of molasses, a sweet cola note and then a sweet nectar like blueberry sensation. It gets mildly dark and roasty with malts to midway and toward the finish. Interesting and the level of spice here seems to be right on as it lets plenty of the malts and such shine through.
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is raspberry, roast, cocoa. Light body, medicine, berry, light roast, not much going on with this one. chinchill (4937) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 5, 2015
From a large shared bottle.
Poured essentially black with a decent head.
Medicinal aroma and, to a lesser extent, flavor.
Raspberries evident but diminished by a vague, fruity sweetness.
Overly sweet with poorly hidden alcohol.
O: Rich but lacks balance. daleharshman (1064) - Escondido, California, USA - OCT 1, 2014
750 ml bottle purchased a little over two years ago at Holiday Wine Cellar itself ($9.99). Pours mostly black with noticeable red-brown highlights around the edges and two fingers of fizzy brown foam that quickly recedes. AROMA of green vegetal cardamon, other herbs (anise?, ginger?), roasted malts, perfumy raspberries, and some chocolate. FLAVOR of dark roasted malts (somewhat smoked), mild raspberries, dark chocolate, spice (including cardamon and some chili pepper), and creamy espresso. Has raspberry and chocolate notes, but this is not very sweet at all. Well-concealed ABV and a surprisingly dry finish. The unusual spicing here actually reminds me of HWC’s previous anniversary ale, Indra Kunindra (now regularly produced by Ballast Point), though this does not quite measure up to that one. Gushing bottle purchased ad Holiday Wine Cellar in May, dark brown with some tan head. Aroma is pungent cardamom, some raspberry, something weird and unenjoyable. Taste is overwhelming cardamom, raspberry and chocolate take a backseat. This didnt work for me at all. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - AUG 12, 2013
Bottle; poured a dark brown to black with a light brown head. Aroma of raspberries, roasted malt, herbs, caramel and chalk. Flavor was complex, but somewhat strange. Raspberries pronounced, roasted malt and meat in the finish. Palate a bit flat. Somewhat messy.

Black with a medium sized tan head and good lacing. Aroma of ginger and spices. Taste was toasted malts, spices and herbal
Minty, raspberry, flaoral aroma. Prominent raspberry flavor, with similar floral character (from the cardamom, I guess?), and subtle chili pepper flavor. Tart berry aftertaste. MikeJslc (778) - USA - MAY 25, 2013
Dark brown, slight haze, tan head. Aroma of dark bread, chocolate, cardamom, raspberries are there too. Flavor of pumpernickel bread, slightly tart raspberry, dry chocolate, dry finish.

750 ml bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours a pure black color with a small brown head. A sweet berry and spicy nose. A rich dry coffee and mellow roast flavor, ashy, some rich berries. Good.
