In case you’re one of the 3 people that haven’t figured it out yet, we at Iron Fist are fans of everything unfettered by and silly notions of "tradition". So our latest insurrection is a two-for. We brewed a huge Belgian style Trippel and hopped the (expletive deleted) out of it. Being the counterculturalists that we are, we decisively chose to use the finest imported European hops we could get our hands on rather than the ubiquitous West Coast style varieties. We even threw in some varieties so new they still have that new hop smell. A robust malt character helps balance this truly one-of-a-kind brew.
Brewed for KnB Wine Cellars 3rd Anniversary.

Bottled. Deep gold color and a thick white head. Aroma of clove, pear, banana and some citrus. Belgian yeast noticeable. I can smell the cloying sweetness before I taste it. Yep. Pretty damn sweet. Flavor has notes of mango and bad rum cake. The sweetness is clashing with the hop profile. Not too sure what was intended here. Overall a bit difficult to drink. Props for trying a Belgian IPA but I think the balance needs some work.

Golden with a white head - Mlat aroma with hops and some hints of spicy yeast - Malt body to support the hops and a spicy flavour as well - Malt and hops goes into the finish - This was good

(En fût au Balboa Tap House): Liquoreux, collant, légèrement épicé, très miellé et résineux. Tel qu’annoncé, une Tripel qui voit ses sucres tranchés par une résine insistante. Assez divertissant.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Hazy orange color, medium to full sized white head. Aroma is malts, sweetish, a bit old it seems. Taste malts, sweet hops, medium bitter. Unbalanced and all over the place imo. Not very good unfortunately.

Countbeer (6589) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle: Taster: Creamy head. Hazy orange body. Aroma of cream, hops, flowers, fruit, creamy, barley wine esque... Flavour is bitter, hoppy, fruity, yeast, barley wine/dipa ish... Aftertaste is bitter, hops and herbs, creamy... Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium to fuller bodied.

Oranje ondoorzichtig bier met een goede witte schuim kraag. Ruikt zoet, fruitig. Smaakt kruidig, fruitig. Bitter. Kan er weinig van zeggen.

DutchDrebus (6328) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - NOV 26, 2015
Bottle @ joes. Hazy, peachy orange colour with a small white head. Smells barley wine, hops, fruity, sweet. Tastes barley wine, fruity, sweet, hops. Full body, soft carbo. Nice.

I’m usually not a fan of Belgian IPAs but I heard great things about this beer. Turns out there is diamond in the rough when you look for it. This beer had a great citrus hop aroma that worked very well with the Belgian yeast character. Taste was awesome, way too easy to drink for 12% ABV. Definitely picking up a few more bottles.

>> Flatter, clear, deep orange pour, ring of foam. Sticky candy nose with big nail polish remover. Taste is chemical, astringent. Can’t drink.

Bottle at Chris and Ruth’s pre-GBBF 2015. A bit hazy golden beer with an offwhite head. Hoppy citrus caramell fruity aroma. Fruity malty grassy floral flavour.
