You know the expression, "A Velvet Glove and an Iron Fist"? It was coined to refer to a regime that used a soft exterior to hide its punishingly unforgiving nature. This seems an apt description for our Velvet Glove. Its placid appearance and unparalleled smoothness hide the truth; this is one fiendishly strong stout. Rich, chocolaty espresso dominates the flavor profile, with a velvety smooth texture that will haunt your senses.

750ml bottle from Systembolaget Passagen

Cola black colour with a big dark brown head. Roasty aroma. Flavour of chocolate, a bit ash and coffee. Soft rich mouth-feel. Easy to drink. Very good and simple.

Pours black with a finger and a half of chocolate milk head. Complex nose with morels, pumpernickel bread, a hint of dark chocolate and roasted malts. The palate is medium+ bodied and nicely balanced. Not the most powerful, but pleasantly complex and subtle for an Imp. Stout. The finish is long and has a pleasant bitterness on roasted malt notes. Not a blockbuster, but very tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
