COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of a Belgian monestary, it has a distinct aroma of plum and pears. The flavor has the sweetness of dark Belgian candy sugar paired with nuances of fruit and spice. A dense, rocky head sits atop this mahogany colored ale.

Bottle from North Wales. Pours copper/brown, with a small head. Aromas are sugar, fruit, malt, and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, brown sugar, fruit..a little banana, and some bread, too. I like this one alot.

Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a hazy mahogany color. Mine came out with not much of a head on it. The aroma was nice. A bit of a sweetness to it. Notes of plums, pears, caramel, a yeasty breadiness and corriander. The taste is also quite good and has similar notes to the aroma. Spicy with a hint of corriander. You can also taste the plums and pears as well as the breadiness. Nice.

RBSG 2006 - DC Grand Tasting Lineup
Bottom pour, murky brown color, nice head and lacing though. Nose of raisin, bread, rye, molasses and banana. The flavor is balanced, nice tart, sour sweet, bitter combo. Creamy finish, nice carbonation level and surprisingly decent. Thanks Whaleman!

SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 15, 2006
Sampled at RBSG 2006- Grand Tasting. Pours a cloudy dark gold. delicious amalgam of toffee and caramel apples infused with plums and raisins. The alcohol seemed way bigger in this than 8% abv, so I guess it hides the heat well.

SpringsLicker (3682) - Tennessee, USA - JUL 30, 2006
Sampled during RBSG 2006.
Murky brown with a fleeting off-white head.
Malty caramel aroma with a touch of alcohol. Licorice in there somewhere?
Sweet, smooth, easy drinking.

Bottle at RBSG 2006. Clouded rusty amber. Nose is yeasty, candyish fruits, bubblgummy notes and light flowers. Taste is fruity, candyish with yeast and flower notes. Body is light-medium with mild carbonation. Finishes with almost tart fruits, candy notes, yeast and flowers.

jimmack (1223) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Bottle at RBSG ’06. Cloudy dark amber color with a small beige head. Sweet malty aroma with some dark fruits and candi sugar. Alcohol comes on strong at first sip. Quite sweet and malty. Might need some age on this for the flavors to mellow and mix, but right now it reminded me of a homebrew I made once that was decent, but forgettable.

RBSG06: Almost a pure red color. Very syrpy. Intresting beer i wasn’t impressed. Kinda weak for a double

scraff (2125) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUL 19, 2006
RBSG 06 - Turbid brownish rusty color, creamy light tan head. Nose was nice with soft tones of golden raisin, plum, pear, and musty brown sugar. Flavor was similar with an added alcohol heat. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dark fruity finish. Good, but not as good as I had hoped for....
