Bottle thats been in my cellar for years. I think it came from hopdog. Pours brown with a lasting tan head. Smells of cherries, nutty, some molasses, touches of welcoming oxidation. Tastes of Spice, some fruity undertones, caramel, cognac with some toffee and cherry hints on the finish. Delicious!

Creamy off-white head mounts the dark amber hue to remain there. Potent caramel flavors come from the developped maltiness. Biscuity, toffeeish undertones accompany the orangey and floral hops on first level, but the 2nd level is the affair of the formidable peachy, banana and apricot fruits of the great english barleywines. Smokey in its finish, long, strong, heady and sweet. Medium to full bodied, slow carbonation. Its sheer complexity and fitting mouthfeel put it among the numerous good examples.

In short: A typical, but very much oxidized barley wine
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed when almost 2 year old. Too old maybe.
The look: Cloudy light brown body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose of cardboard and caramel. Taste is crme caramel, booze, peanuts, wet cardboard, tobacco. Alcohol is very apparent. Finish is a bit bite of alcohol. The body is foamy/fluffy with a overly active carbonation. I had this beer in a tasting a few months back and it was oxidized. I didnt rate it knowing I had a bottle home. My bottle was oxidized too. And both bottles were not purchased at the same time from the same pub. So Id say that the odds of other bottles of Iron Hill Barleywine are pretty high. And I paid about $20 for that oxidized crap. What have I done to deserve that? What do people have against me? I am not a bad person. I am a good person. I am a good person who has done some bad things. To an alarm clock. Sexually.

Bottle. Pours brown with off-white head; short retention and spare lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, dark fruit, caramel, and light alcohol. Flavor matches the nose and is sweet throughout. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.

Bottle. Pours a hazy bruin body with a huge off white head, 4 fingers plus. Malty with lots of caramel and toffee notes, a bit chewy. Fruity tone, caramelized apples, and a fruit latent warming. A mild woody tannic tone, apricots and oak. Soft fruit tones and a mild warming. Nice.

Thanks IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours brown with a tan head. Nose is malt, caramel, grapes, sugar, floral hops, citrus hops, apricot, toffee, and some bitterness. Flavor is much the same- malt, citrus, apricot, and sweetness. Medium mouthfeel to this hoppy and likeable BW.

This barleywine pours a medium brown color forma 750ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is brown sugar, molasses and brown sugar. Medium bodied barley wine. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are earthy and floral. Nice carbonation. Good balance. Hides the 10% alcohol fairly well, there is a touch of a bite at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Tap at P-ville location. Pours a nice deep amber with a lively carbonaion for a BW, nice lasting tan head. Aroma is lots of thcik sweet caramel and toffee malts, and nice fruity esters- dried apricots, and raisins plums. Good big malt flavor- smooth sweet, not cloying, but big and robust, toffee, hints of earth and leather with a very subtle hopping character all the way through. Good long smooth finish. Went down real easy as well.

On tap at the Iron Hill Belgium Comes to West Chester event. Dry and sweet at the same time. A bit odd in the body. Moderate malty sweetness with a bit of fruit. Slightly metallic in the finish.
