Big thanks to GMCC2181 for sending this one my way. Had this the same night as a bunch of rare beers, and this stood up to the big boys. Nice and subtle, but complex. Aroma is malt and yeast, with maybe even notes of nuts. Flavor is malt and hops; not too big, but full of character. Not too hot, not too watery. A fantastic session barleywine, and a nice representation of the style. Thanks again Gabe! JJClark (551) - Roscoe, Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2008
750ml bottle from trade. Pours a dark amber color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel malt, figs, dates and brown sugar. Taste is sweet, lightly smoked and bold. Flavors of fermented fruit, toffee, caramel malt and alcohol. Has a semi sweet floral finish. peter (445) - Normal, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2008
Quite an enjoyable little BW. Healthy presence of hops. A bit floral. Malt was a little thin for the beer, but overall enjoyable. machfive55 (358) - Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 15, 2008
Poured a deep brown and served in a goblet. This was very interesting beer in that I could detect some very fruity, cidery, apple notes, but they did not take away from the beer at all. The hops were blended in nicely and not over the top. The alchol is warming and very apparant. This is a great after meal beer. FaithHealer1 (358) - SCOTLAND - JUL 22, 2011
Bottle at cgarvieuk’s. Pours a cloudy brown, with a very small ring of bubbles around the edge. Dark fruity nose, raisins, plums, with noticeable alcohol.
Very sweet aroma. Taste follows this - really quite sweet. There’s caramel there, and similar dark fruits, but not as strongly as in the nose. Full bodied, small but pleasant carbonation, alcohol on the finish. A lingering sweetness too. Really quite nice.

Media, March 4, 2005: Super impressed by this brew. From presentation in the glass to the aroma and flavor this beer showed up extremely well. I’m becoming more and more a fan of barleywines and this is one of the reasons for it. Took home some on a growler and got wasted within 2 thanks to it being 10%ABV. theyshookhands (249) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is of roasted malts, fruits, some hops and notes of citrus. Sweet, fruity, a nice balance, some alcohol. brew3crew (182) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 25, 2012
Caramel body with a white lacing head. Smells sweet but a little rusty. Taste just the same and that’s not a good thing BrianO (138) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2003
Had on draft @ Media, PA location. Tried this with their RIS, and IIPA so my palate was somewhat tanted from the other beers. Cooper/red in color with somewhat cloudy appearance. Aroma is fruity, malty and some hops. Nice full body followed by warming characteristics. Not a bad barleywine.
