Aroma of Belgian yeast: cloves, prunes and sweet chocolate with roasty hints. Tastes like dark chocolate covered prune. Nice roasted notes come out in the taste. Very pleasant.
Draft at Maple Shade during the barrel aged beer event. Poured pitch black body with average sized foamy beige head. Aroma of sour chocolate, Belgian yeast, dark fruit and brown bread dough. Fuller bodied that dries out towards the end, average carbonation, chalky and a lingering aftertaste. Flavor has lots of chocolate with a slight sour twist from the Belgian yeast, dark fruit skins, old milk and dried raisin skins. Tap at the Maple Shade location. Black with a lacing light brown head and ruby highlights. Light rubber in the roast, more black patent formulation than roast, which is to style, I guess. 4 oz nitro sample at Iron Hill Maple Shade, New Jersey. The pour has nice nitro settling, black brown color, and a well formed khaki head. The aroma is roast dark chocolate malts. The taste is the dark chocolate, roast malt and a nice gentle Belgian fruitiness. All flavors play together nicely. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, silky nitro mouth feel, and a big dried fruit and roast lingering finish. Unique and well executed beer. Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of spicy belgian and chocolate malt and nuts.Taste is spicy belgian yeast and chocolate malt that just really is light and refreshing while still maintaining complexity.
