Draft. Subdued nose. Pours dark brown. Creamy aroma and taste. Fairly rich mouthfeel, but less flavorful than most stouts. Slightly bitter finish.
On nitro at the NW location. Pours a dark maple cola with a small cream colored head. Aroma of vanilla, sweet malt, bourbon and cola. Taste of light bourbon, vanilla, sweet malt and cola. Nice stuff. TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - MAR 23, 2010
Tap at IHNW for 2010 Barrel Aged event. Pours a deep brown with a small creamy tan head that left lacing on the glass. Aroma was kind of up front chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon came through as well, like oak and roasted malt. Flavor was very similar to aroma…again I’m getting a ton of chocolate out of this. On tap at North Wales. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Flavor of chocolate, oatmeal, and vanilla with some bourbon on the back end. Absolutely delicious!!!

Tap at Lancaster location. Deep rich black beer with a creamy black head. The aroma is very rich and sweet with lots of caramel, light vanilla, toffee, and chocolate. A soft oaky character with more vanilla coming out as the beer warms up. Rich sweet chocolate and a lovely oaky character, light vanilla and a soft sweet finish. As it continues to warm, more soft sweet bourbony sweetness comes to the fore. Peppery and lightly oaky on the back... seriously tasty stuff. On tap at IH Wilmington. Blackish pour with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet with vanilla, cream, chocolate, and wood. Flavor has some sweet coffee, vanilla, cream, chocolate, and some light raspberry. Smooth and creamy profile. Nice - not quite as good as the bourbon Impy Stout or Bourbon porter, but tasty and pretty sessionable. at the pub, had the pleasure of trying this beer both on nitro and i got the last pull from the cask. both were extremely good.head was better on the nitro for obvious reasons , tenacious. each had a silky smooth refined texture, like drinking cream. the aroma of this beer had notes of cedar, campfire sulfur match tips. UPDATED: MAR 11, 2008 On TAP at Wilimington brewery: This is a combination of Southern Tiers Oat and GI Bourbon County Stout. I LOVED it! Color was black, brownish head. At first I thought it smelled like to much bourbon, but it was the right amount because of all the other flavors going on. Lots of chocolate, vanilla and nice thick taste of oats. Pour was nice rich black chocolate with a choco-brown colored head, quite generous, must abeen the nitrogen. Aroma was rich bourbon some vanilla, no amount of nitrogen was gonna kill that bourbon, although it wasn’t way overkill. The flavor did feature some chocolate in the finish and some dry oats in the aftertaste, keeping the finish fairly clean for a bourbon aged beer. Pretty nicely done, probably about as nice as can be done when bourbon aging such a low abv beer.
