Pours a reddish brown with no head. Aroma of cherry and alcohol. Flavor was grain-like with cherry and some alcohol. Overall, weak in substance, but decent to drink.
An excellent combo of a fruit beer with an abbey dubbel-style! This beer is not for the faint of heart, because it’s powerful and strong. The beer poured a murky, dark copper color. It had a small off-white head, but laced nicely around the glass. The aroma included cherries, oak and bourbon. I tasted a ton of cherries, bourbon, apple cider, rye and roasted malt. I got a nice alcohol note in the finish. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 28, 2011
Pours an opaque pink/amber color with a thin white head. Aroma has some tart sour cherry and oaky funk...slightly vinous. Flavor is tart and fruity with cherry notes, a bit of plum, and a touch of lemony citrus...nice earthy dry oak. Mouthfeel is light with a slight bubbly burn...finish is oaky and dry with notable sour cherry. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - JUN 4, 2011
Sweet and cherry nose with light caramel and dark fruit. The taste is lightly sour with cherry that’s a bit medicinal. Some aspirin on the finish. TommyTilt (67) - Maryland, USA - FEB 13, 2011
On tap at the Wilmington location. Shared a nice glass with willblake. Poured a very dark stout like beer, no visible carbonation. Cherry and other berries were notable. Tasted as if it were aged in an oak barrel. Light bodied, this texture and fizzy carbonation. Little taste lingered at the astringent finish.

Growler at the Shenandoah Throwdown. Pours a clear ruby brown with a thin white head. Cherry and chocolate, sweet. Sweet and a bit more chocolate and some citric acid. Tart and overall too sweet. EricE (1367) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 27, 2010
Very dark, almost looks liek a stout. Red tint, mostly clear. Cherry pie aroma with a slight sourness. Some creamy oak. Lots of cherry flavor with some sourness, but a little sweet. Not bad. willblake (2654) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - APR 21, 2010
20100220 Tap at Wilmington. This was an unexpected bonus of the visit. Lots of cherry on the nose with some woody balsamic notes. Thin bodied, light prickly fizz. Dusty cellar wood flavors with stellar interplay between oak and cherry astringency. Finishes dry and quick with only mild acetic bite lingering. Some slight pedio. oOJUXEOo (303) - Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 21, 2010
Pours a cloudy amber color with just a hint of cherry smell. Very smooth on the palate and nice flavor. One of my favorites at Iron Hill.
