ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JAN 15, 2008
Appearance: Pours an opaque brown body with a fizzy, medium-sized off-white head. Smell: An aroma that’s mostly chocolatey and fruity, but also having hints of spice, candi sugar, and a whisper of yeast. Taste: Quite sweet with tart, fruity flavors of bananas, cherries, and plums. Hints of chocolate, ground spices, and dark candi sugar. Slight yeastiness. Light floral hop taste, but no real bitterness. Warming, candied finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Some creaminess to the mouthfeel. Drinkability: A decent, Belgian-minded beer from Iron Hill.

Bottle thanks to eaglefan538: Pours a clear dark ruby mahogany with a fine-lacing wispy off-white head. Aroma of sweet, doughy caramel malt and light fruity esters with some Belgian yeast. Starts with good fullness and dark caramel malty sweetness along with a mild milk chocolate and brown sugar character toward a doughy, yeasty finish. A nicely balanced and fairly complex brew.

Bottle. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of raisins, oak, chocolate, some bitter hints. Taste balances bitter with sweet nicely. Lots of chocolate and coffe hints present as are fruit and sweet malty characteristics. While this does not taste like an abt or quad, it is a very good beer.
