For this special beer we took our Pig Iron Porter recipe and jacked it up to 9%ABV, and then we took 35 pounds of Nicaraguan coffee beans and cold steeped them for 3 days, and infused the beer with the resulting extract. A massive, dark beer with lots of dark roasted grain and coffee flavors.

Split bomber from Sherm1016’s beer fridge. Thanks. This was labeled as AFTERNOON DELIGHT. More like breakfast delight! Pours almost black with minimal head / lacing. Nose is coffee and lots of it. Sweet edge to the coffee; bit of bitter in there as well. Initial taste is sweet; coffee permeats all....generally positive. Medium to heavy feel. Excellent / tasty. Very tasty for a porter.....

750ml C&C bottle as "Afternoon Delight" from Iron Hill Media a while ago, split with dwm1034. Pours a jet black color with a big tan head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma is roasty, coffee, a hint or burnt toast. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, roasty, loads of coffee, chocolate, very nutty, with a roasty, bittersweet chocolate finish. On the verge of too much coffee, but not quite. Very nice.

Nice package. Heavy coffee aroma and good balance. Pours black with good head and no lacing. Thick texture. Bitter finish. Very coffee head - a touch too much almost. Bottle thanks to Sammy, Pino or Liam - forget to ask about this one.

A bit of a moldy aroma. Dark, lace ring. Cold coffee taste, a little astringent in the finish. Chocolate malt.

750 ml bottle to oversized snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks watson1977). Looks good; a fairly opaque dark brownish-black with beige lacing. Smells good too;dark malt, chocolate, and coffee. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Great beer!

750ml cork and caged bottle given to me by my wife for Christmas ’12. Poured a medium density pitch black body with a smaller to medium sized tight foamy beige head. Aroma gets better with warmth. Notes of mostly black coffee with some light sugar notes, cream, dark toast, old coffee grounds. Medium bodied with rather lively carbonation and a burnt coffee finish that lingers. Flavor is the same as the aroma with a touch less sweetness, mostly dark coffe with light cream and a hint of sweetness along with burnt toast. Good stuff IH.

As ’Afternoon Delight’. Opaque black beer, good size tan head. Minerally dark malt nose. Crisp palate, semi dry. Minerally dark malt. Not roasty or bitter. Nice streak of unsweet dark chocolate. The coffee kicks in, it’s quite mild and with a trace of cream. Finishes smooth and minerally.

This poured a nice darker cola color with a beige head. Aroma was lots and lots of green coffee, dark and stringent, with roasted malts underneath. Flavor was very similar peppery and ashy coffee, with roast and mild bakers chocolate. Pretty solid.
