Pours jet black with nice lacing and head retention. Smells like cocoa and of roasted malt. Has a taste of bitter chocolate, and burnt coffee notes. This is a well balanced black ipa, and one of the better ones I’ve had! 60minuteman (1719) - West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 9, 2014
Dark brown pour with tan head. Aroma of biscuit, hops, coffee, barley. Taste is roast up front followed by a substantial amount of hop. The finish has medium bitterness from the hop and a kick from the coffee. Pretty clean and tasty BIPA. Ratman197 (14852) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - SEP 28, 2014
Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, cocoa, pine, light earthiness and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, bakers cocoa, earthiness and light pine with a smooth dry bitter lingering roasty finish. grundsow (130) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 11, 2014
On tap at brewpub as “Black IPA”. What a fantastic beer! Wonderfully hoppy contrasted with roasted malts. Very interesting style. Can’t see how this could be any better, only wish it was available by the case in bottles. reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 4, 2013
pours black with a medium tan head...great lacing and retention. aroma is subtle but has mild roastiness and some piney/earthy hops. flavor opens up quite a bit...burnt bitterness, lots of roast, a hint of dark chocolate, some biscuit...nice burnt/piney bitterness. mouthfeel is medium and the finish is dry and very burnt/bitter. very enjoyable!

On tap at IH NW. I have a strange relationship with black IPAs, but this one hits a flavor profile I can get behind. retinadoc (236) - - MAR 17, 2013
Draft. Subdued aroma. Pours black. Toasted hoppy flavor. Rich mouthfeel. Slightly bitter finish. One of the better Iron Hill offerings. Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - SEP 28, 2012
Aroma of citrus, white wine, caramel and yeast. Pours dark with a good large head. Taste is very floral with good citrus notes and a slight roast malt at the end. Not too much roastiness but very tasty.thornecb (5920) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 13, 2012

Aroma of perfume, floral, roasted pine. Pours dark brown with a very small head. Tastes of pine, roasted coffee, pine and sourdough. Quite yummy.
Cask at Wilmington. Pours black into an English pint. Micro head with excellent retention does not recede. Chocolate aromas. Medium bodied and well balanced with dark caramel, chocolate, heather and lasting espresso and resin finish. Another. JFGrind (2047) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2012
Draft at Chestnut Hill location; darkest brown body, cream head, with citrus, pine and roasted chocolate malts. Yeppers, it’s a Black IPA alrighty.
