3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 14, 2010 Draft at Media IH. Slightly hazy amber/orange color with a medium head. Slight lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit type citrus, apricot, lemon cleaner and tropical fruit. Extremely fresh and prickly hop signature. A little honey and biscuit. Dry, dry, dry. Really too dry for my tastes, and the soriachi hops just about ruin the beer.
It is only appropriate that my first review comes from the town I grew up in, Media, PA. The aroma is what you would expect from a DIPA, it starts off with extreme floral notes with some citrus added. The taste is bitter but has enough malt to create an incredible balance. The taste paired with the creamy texture and long finish create possibly my favorite DIPA. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2010
Growler from Media. Clear amber with some bone froth. Nose is pine, caramel, parsley and dough. Medium body with a tang and a burn. Taste is orange peel, pink grapefruit and lemon pith. Builds toward a brusque piney bitterness finishing with a hint of sweetness. Big and hoppy but still showing some balance. TomDecapolis (4636) - Milton, Delaware, USA - JUN 25, 2010
Growler from Media location. Pours a lightly hazy golden orange with a medium foamy white head that laced. Aroma is pretty much the perfect picture of a true West Coast Style DIPA. Wonderful floral, citrusy and piney American hops with just a touch of malt sweetness. American hop flavor also wonderful. Orange, Mango, pine, grapefruit. Bitterness is there but smooth and the malt is balanced perfect for the style. Nice and dry from all that honey. One of the best DIPA’s I have had in quite some time.
