Pours a slightly hazy golden honey color with a medium white head. Aroma has tangy orange, light spice, and hints of citrus rind. Flavor has some tropical fruit, nice citrus rind, mild spice, and a touch of grass...all playing well together! Mouthfeel is medium and a tad syrupy with a dry rindy/grassy finish. Hazy golden pour, thin well-sustained white head. Aroma of spices, pepper, faint bubblegum, faint farmhouse funk. Flavor followed, phenolic spices and pepper at the fore, funk stronger than in aroma, sorachi hops adding a great and unique firm balance. Really enjoyed this, as with most Iron Hill Saisons. They got this style down. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Draft. Lightly hazed straw body, small white head. Aroma is medium sweet, pumpkin, some coriander, spicy, light honey. Taste is moderately sweet, pine/grass, some spicy/yeast, light honey. Light-medium body, light acidity. Goodgrief (2039) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Okay, it’s not really true to style. But hey, there aren’t many samurai warriors in Belgium so maybe we can cut them some slack and say you should have known this going in. Clear golden color, big funky hat like aroma. Sweet fruity make profile with a sweet grainy rice hop flavor. Lemongrass...okay, I buy it. I like the Sorachi Ace hop. It isn’t really very saison like, but I liked it for what it was.

In short: A relatively sweet, very fruity and only slightly rustic Saison. Below average for the styleanders37 (26726) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUL 14, 2011
How: Fresh hand-bottle shared by and with dickinsonbeer in our hotel room, thanks a lot Paul
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Aroma of fresh tropical fruits along with very light rustic yeast notes. Taste is mostly fruity and loses its rustic Saison character. Plenty of apricots, pineapples, more… even bananas. Also some lemongrass. Mild tartness. Rustic notes appears in the finish with a cobweb sensation along with some lemongrass and a bit too much fruit sweetness (like canned fruits juice). I love Saisons and tend to overrate them, but not this one, I think this Samurai dishonors the style. If it was a real samurais it would handle its dishonor and disgrace the right way. But because it is American, with its dishonor and disgrace it will probably get a book deal and go to talk shows.
Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity spicy yeasty citrus aroma. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor with earthy hints and hints of citrus. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty citrus finish. ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - MAY 17, 2011
On tap at Iron Hill Wilmington. Pours a cloudy golden coppery color with a small soapy white head. Aroma is mostly lemony citrus zest and a slight mustiness. taste has a big, but not overpowering grassy hop presence with lemon citrus that is mellowed out towards the finish with biscuity malts. The finish is lightly bitter and dry. GMCC2181 (1611) - Newark, Delaware, USA - MAY 12, 2011

Dry, spices, lemon, yeast, fruity.....I love the sorachi ace hop! Light body, zesty, very refreshing, dry... nice spring beer. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - MAY 9, 2011
Growler from Wilmington, DE. Pours a nice hazy orange with a creamy coud-like white head and nice dense white lacing. Aroma is orange cream-sickle, toasty malts, pils-wheat blended malt cream of wheat, slight lemongrass, orange zest. Flavor is light grass- ester- fruitiness, some orange yeastiness, toast, grass, wheat malt, biscuit, with a mostly dry finish- just not as complex as I originally thought at the brewpub- has a zesty bitter and mostly dry finish, but the overall hoppy citus, orange zestiness and fruity ester character (which seems like it would work) are now not working as much for me. - Overall the citrus gets a bit soapy especially in the end, but it is still a nice easy drinking saison. Still good.
