This amber Austrian lager has a distinct bready malt aroma and flavor followed by a crisp clean finish typical of lager styles. The nose also shows plenty of the spicy hop aroma contributed by the use of Saaz hops. Winner of a Bronze medal at the 1999 GABF.

Pours clear light amber with a nice but dissipating off white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, caramel and a little hops. Roasted malts, caramel, wood, resin and spices. Very smooth.

Tap at Iron Hill West Chester for RBSG 2011. The pour is a clear reddish amber with no head formation. Nose is absent. Maybe some light roast and cherry. Virtually no aroma. Taste is syrupy and metallic. Sharp metals and twangy sweet cherry with mild fusel alcohol. Ick.

On tap at Lancaster. Transparent red-amber, white ring for a head. Nose of dusty caramel, bit soft with some sugar bit little else. Flavor shows more caramel malt and is considerably sweeter, particularly through the finish, where it is lightly foamy body and generally empty profile.
