COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Created by the brewerys founder, Quilters Irish Death is what we call a dark, smooth, ale. Any attempt at classifying it just ends up sending beer geeks into a style guidelines diatribe. So forget style guidelines. Is your pursuit of micro beer about tasting copies of a style that fit guidelines anyways? (Neither is ours) Irish Death is a malt bomb. We lovingly refer to it as beer candy. We heart our candy store. While tempting to session this beer, the name is a necessary reminder that despite the surprising approachability, this beer weighs in at a hefty 7.8% ABV.

Roasted grain aroma. Dark brown in appearance with a decent head. Balanced malt and roasted character and very smooth. Lovely mouth-feel and texture. Overall great beer for just drinking...

Can from Downtown Spirits. Dark brown black colour, nice slightly off white foam. Lots of interesting dark malt flavours, but not roasty or bitter, sweet, caramel, treacle, sugar. Lacks bitterness to cut through it. And it tastes kind of hot and boozy. Might be interesting in small doses with dessert but otherwise just a bit cloying.

Tap on layover at Seattle airport. Dark with tan head. Coffee and dark fruit smell. Flavor follows. Lightly bitter finish.

From can, the pour is dark brown with a a creamy brown head that lingures. The aroma is initially alcohol, vanilla and coffee. The taste is a little herbal, bright hops but not hoppy, hints of coffee. Smooth, creamy with a thick mouthfeel. The finish is sweet, malty, and a little alcohol. I like this beer, it appears dark, but taste is not a stout or porter, its hop profile is a good way to brighten the beer.

Dark chocolate malty aroma; black with brown highlights, nice but brief brown head; taste is lightly sweet with the faintest bitterness, likely from the roasted malts; the body is med-full but disappears rather quickly in a slick sort of way; Id like to pair this beer with a chocolate dessert, maybe with smores, carrot cake, a nutty cheese, or a well done steak.

Draft at ODunkens in Twin Falls. Black pour, definite strong ale taste with stout twist. Heavy malt taste, very little hops or bitterness. Chocolate, coffee, etc. Not great, not bad. Better fall or winter drink.

Bomber shared by Ed. Poured a solid black body with a foamy beige head. Aroma is decently chocolatey, cardboard and brown box. Flavor is the same. Medium body with average to stronger carbonation. Nice beer for an Irish Stout.

22oz bomber from HBT trade. Pours dark brown/almost black color with a small foamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate malts, caramel, light vanilla, and light roasted sour malts. Taste mimics the nose with some earthiness.
