COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Created by the brewery’s founder, Quilter’s Irish Death is what we call a dark, smooth, ale. Any attempt at classifying it just ends up sending beer geeks into a style guidelines diatribe. So forget style guidelines. Is your pursuit of micro beer about tasting copies of a style that fit guidelines anyways? (Neither is ours) Irish Death is a malt bomb. We lovingly refer to it as beer candy. We heart our candy store. While tempting to session this beer, the name is a necessary reminder that despite the surprising approachability, this beer weighs in at a hefty 7.8% ABV.

Can from Total Wine, Bellevue. Dark brown color when a large, foamy head. Sweet malt, chocolate and caramel, brown sugar, a little dough. Smooth, somewhat sticky mouthfeel. It's a little too sweet, but I rather like it.

From a can into a Het Kapittel chalice. Pours dark brown with brown head and lace. Aroma of caramel, milk chocolate. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of dark malts, chocolate, subtle raisin and prune, caramel, slight molasses. Overall rich, flavorful, smooth and tasty.

Draught @ the brewery. Pours a mostly opaque dark brown with a thin beige head. Nose is rye bread and grains. Flavour is sweet bready grains with a lasting semi sweet malt character.
