On tap at BR. Golden brown with a fizzy white head. Bitter earthy and woody aroma with a hint of chocolate. Cocoa powder taste with bitter woody notes toward the back end. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - JUL 31, 2012
A - Served a clear red with a touch of orange and very little head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind a touch of lace.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet caramel malts with some spices, chocolate, and farmhouse yeast smells.
T - Starts off with a mix of sweet rich caramel malts and grains with some farmhouse yeast spices and some chocolate. Through the middle, the yeast character gowns with a bit of funk and some more cocoa and bready malt flavors come through. The finish is a mix of earthy flavors with some spices, grains, chocolate, and yeast character.
M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a spicy and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. The chocolate added is an interesting take on the style, but works very well and the overall balance is quite nice. mrmartin (780) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 20, 2012

Chestnut pour with billowy off white head. Creamy medium body. Semisweet nose with a little musty yeast. Dark fruits and hint of chocolate. Dry finish. Didn’t expect chocolate in a biere de Garde but its works. recipe Might work well as the base for a sour marcus (10560) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 19, 2012
