650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a murky dark brown color with a medium khaki head head that has fair retention. The aroma is strong with coffee, chocolate, hazelnut and mocha. The taste is similar to the aroma with the hazelnut really standing out. The coffees are similarly rich and strong and there is a bitter walnut hop presence. Most surprising to me is a lack of any real sweetness, just lots of roasted goodness. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering coffee grounds. Overall: First rate stout, very tasty. This is only my second beer from this brewery and so far i have been impressed by them.

12 oz single from Total Wine & More - Laguna Hills, consumed via can on a camping trip. Aroma of coffee, nutty malts and light chocolate. Similar flavor, rich and moderately sweet with minimal hop bitterness. Medium body with a lasting finish. Solid stout overall.

Can from Beer Zoo. Black body with a dense tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of coffee and copper. Flavour of treacle, cocoa powder and nuts. Full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Thick and full flavoured. Lovely.

Can from Hops and Crafts Exeter. Pours black with a thick beige head. Aroma of coffee & chocolate powder. Taste is bitter with coffee up front & backing chocolate with roasted malt & vine fruit . Surprisingly light bodied, well carbonated. The finish is roasty, bitter & dry with more coffee & chocolate & so me nuttiness. OK but needs more body & better mouthfeel & complexity of flavour . A bit simple!

From a bomber into a glass at home. The aroma and appearance on this started so strong - jet black with a dark brown tall head. Aromas of brownie batter, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla. But the body is much thinner than expected and the taste fizzles and fades quite quickly. Strong coffee and a sharp bitter bite at the end. Great start - couldn’t maintain it

Bottle, 22oz, shared by bergstaden. It’s pitch black in the glass, with a dense, dark beige head of moderate size. The aroma is coffee-filled, with oatmeal biscuits, dark chocolate, heavily roasted malts, nougat and a touch of dried fruits. It’s super-smooth, silky perhaps, and full-bodied, with a nice bitterness level. Both hoppy and coffee-ish bitterness. The flavor has perhaps a bit too much bitterness, especially in the finish. Roasted malts, coffee, hazelnuts, dark chocolate and some dried fruits and tobacco. Everlasting roasted, coffee-ish and bitter finish. A lovely one indeed, pity it’s so bitter in the very end. 170311

Bottle 650ml @ geokkjer
[Courtesy of bergstaden] Pours black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, nuts, vanilla, coffee and kind of peanut butterish. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long nutty, dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted and lots of cold bitter coffee finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A bit to much coffee in the taste for my liking but still a nice beer.
