Cask conditioned at Nottingham Beer Festival ’15. Dark brown with cream head. Quite a fruity, smooth, malty beer, the malts are fuller than the norm, silky with chocolate hints. Reasonable.

[email protected] national brewery centre, burton. Dark brown beer with medium head. Aroma of smokey malts. Taste is roasted malts, smoke and earth. Light bodied. Not sure if smoke is intentional after reading other reviews, but it tasted nice.

UPDATED: JUL 4, 2015 Bottle from Cheers Liquor Store, Todmorden. Very dark but loses its creamy head fast. Has a full aroma, but not quite a full taste.

chriso (7533) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2013
Cask (handpump) at the Irwell Works brewery tap, Ramsbottom, on 27 December 2012. Dark brown. Thin but lasting beige head. Vaguely buttery aroma but not too intrusive. Lots of groundy, somewhat stewed coffee in the flavour. No sweetness at all. Another decent smooth-drinking number from Irwell Works.

Cask Handpump at The Venue, Miles Platting 19/01/2011 Fruit and some roast aroma. Mid brown dark coloured a little rich on the palate and spicy with a hint of bitterness in a dry slight roast finish.
