Cask (gravity dispense) at National Winter Ales Festival, Manchester on 19 January 2012. Quite dark chestnut colour. Fruity aroma - prunes/plums. Some touches of licorice. A little roasty malt too. More roast notes on the palate. Firm dry mouthfeel. A pretty solid mild.

Bottle from Cheers Liquor Store, Todmorden. Clear brown, no head. Very easy drinking with very light dark malts evident. Some sweetness but not much - the same goes for its roasted malts.

Cask @ Rushden Historical Transport Society. Dark brown with a decent off-white head. Scent of freshly roast coffee and singed firewood. Bitter taste, with a bit of sour. lingering finish. Thin and chalky palette. An easy-drinking yet flavourful mild.

Cask at the Seven Stars, Rugby - 31/10/12. Very dark mahogony brown with a good tan head and lacing. Good strong nose for a mild, decent pinch of roast malt, light coffee tones, some nutiness. Tastes of light roast malt, iron, minerals, light coffee, touch of toffee. Medium bodied but in no way thin, smooth drinking with fine carbonation leading to a roasted finish. Excellent on the palate, a very good mild.

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 2012, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.

Clear medium to dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, fruity, light burnt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120119]

Leighton (21853) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2012
Cask at the Duchess of Cambridge, London. Pours clear brown with gold highlights with a fine, filmy white head. Almost no aroma, just some weak, dark grapes. Light sweet flavor with some faintly tangy dark malts, faint dark fruits and nothing else. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Bland finish, not very sweet, just some more grapes and tangy dark malts. Really nothing good here. It’s a pretty bad beer.

downender (8729) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2011
Cask-conditioned at the Hobgoblin, Reading 7/08/2011. dark brown with a slight off-white head. Dark fruit and milk chocolate aroma, with a hint of grassy hop. More fruit in the flavour, with a touch of caramel and slightly bitter finish with some leafy hops. Good.
