Bottle shared by levifunk...thanks Levi! - Pours pale yellow with no head. Nose is band-aid, super dry apple and a bit of funkiness. Taste is real nice and tannic, dry and light apple with lots of dry funk. Has a dry finish, slick and no carbonation. Very nice stuff.

One of the most precious ciders I’ve had in many years. Significant and full barnyard aromas as the major component of aromatic profile. Only lightly sour. Golden in color, medium effervescence. Floating yeast bodies and some cloudiness in my sample. More brett aroma in my glass compared to a clear pour. Some mild tannic astringency. Lightly sweet. Soft, rustic, balanced, and approachable. This is truly beautiful.

Bottle. Pours still hazed gold, with a few bubbles coming up. Tart and rustic, medium acidity, light apple sweetness, light earthy notes, and a super dry finish. Awesome awesome stuff.

Bottle from Astor Wines shared with Linh. Wow, not sure if this was a bad bottle (because it was still good according to the expiry) but this sucker was a drain pour. Pours a very nice, hazy orange amber body with champagne body. Aroma is strong tart fruit, lemon, strong leather and shoe polish. Mouthfeel is funky and starts out nice with a great tart lemon and funkiness, but the shoe polish is BRUTAL. Overpowering. So much so, that I have to question whether this was contaminated or not. I will probably pick up another bottle on my next trip to Astor, because I’m very curious...

Ernest (7695) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Bottle. No head (still, but poured vigorously to aerate it as well as I could). Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is notes of barnyard, horseblanket, sour apples, lemon juice, band-aid, oak, light note of cheese. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Light to medium body, watery texture, flat/soft carbonation, moderately astringent, lightly alcoholic. Very cool stuff...highly rustic/farmy and very lambic-like in the nose, and equally lambic-like in the mouth (aggressive sourness). Neat ghostly haze. Very nice.

750 mL bottle as a birthday present from Mom. Thanks! Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with floating particles. The head fades immediately but I didn’t pour it traditionally so I’m not going to knock it for that. Aroma of big fruity, floral apple notes, tart apples, herbal and spicy notes. The taste is tart apples, vanilla, grainy notes, herbal notes, spicy finish. Quite nice.

Cloudy green color or mustard yellow or baby shit color or shit and stuff. Blackipa shared this to me by the way. Smells seriously funky, which is always nice. You get some sweet apple underneath with nice bandage and basement, deserted library books. Dry somewhat flatish mouthfeel, sour apple in the back with the funk stuff in the forefront for the most part. The sour bandage notes are nice, but a bit more carbination and possibly sharper acid would make it come out more excitingly..that said, it still a good funk horse for a cider..I dig it. Yes.

MacBoost (1898) - Victor, New York, USA - AUG 11, 2012
Pours a cloudy straw color, with some floaties. Aromas are tart, lambic style with a touch of funk. Moldy basement aromas as well. The sump pump is running. Taste is a dry funk with a sour bite that seems just right. Right on! This is phenomenal. An excellent cider. More carbonation would make this world class.

3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 28, 2012
bottle, September 2011 date. with a vigorous pour its bright acid and hard must prick the nose. mild apple flesh / pulp, much more skin and malic / lactic acid. heavily tart, medium high bitterness, high dryness, lengthy bitter peel finish.

AdamChandler (5051) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 25, 2012
Thanks radarsock for sharing this. Enjoyed in a snifter.

A - Straw color. Pretty intense haze. Light carbonation

S - Alright smell. Up front apple scent, candy and burnt sugar. Quite a Pheno smell going on.

T - Yeah...funky old cheese? Goat cheese? apples, bananas. Slight cardboard. Still not bad. Loving the tart mouth drying finish

M - 35% carbonation. Light body. dry finish

O - It’s alright. Not bad. Quite pleasant but not bad.
