COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
By moderating the amount of coriander, spicy aroma from natural yeast and fresh aroma from domestic citrus peel are complemented. In addition, it reduces the use ratio of wheat malt compared with general white ales, it makes a drink with the characteristic light taste, and it is easy to drink together with a modest bitter taste. Ingredients: water, barley malt, wheat malt, yuzu, coriander, hops (Mount Hood, Chinook), yeast.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looks: Translucent light straw golden colour with a ring of dirt-like yeast sediments. Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with active, very slight carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant malt, with strong wheat, tartness, strong yuzu, citrus, perfume, coriander, floral, light sugar, spices, pine, biscuits, strong yeast, lemon and strong grass.

Taste: Close to light sweet moderate malt, with wheaty tartness, strong yuzu, strong grapefruits, coriander, floral, sugar, spices, herbs, dry biscuits, strong yeast, lime, mid to strong bitter hops and strong grass.

Body: Mid to light body. Dry and fairly slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Fairly good maltyness in a quite slick background. Mid wheaty and tartness. very fruits and hop-dominated with nice fresh yuzu, citrus, herbs and spice. Flowery with medium sweetness. Biscuity with strong lime to round. Very good!

Hoppiness: Citrus, perfume, floral, spices, pine, lemon and strong grass in nose. Grapefruits, floral, spices, herbs, lime and strong grass in taste; Bitterness is quite strong for a lasting, close to high astringent sweet-bitter herbal malty finish.

After Taste: Quite dry. Citrusy spicy and bitter to mouth.

Comments: Wow, these guys are surely generous with the ingredients, with very notable fresh yuzus and citrus, notable coriander and expressive citrusy hoppiness. Very exciting to smell and taste, this is what a nice Witbier should be. Highly recommended!

7/3/2014 On tap at Tadg’s, surprised to find I never transferred this note over to RB. A slightly cloudy gold with a filmy white head. A delicious fruity spicy wheat aroma. Medium bodied with a soft body and a tasty spicy clove flavor. ---judging from the ratings I’d say the 2014 & 2015 recipes have changed quite a bit.

Tap at Beer Fes Osaka 2015. I learned that this is brewed with a wild yeast strain. Fruity, citrus nose, a bit of tart acidity. Cloudy, bright gold. Tons of citrus flavor (yuzu peel), crisp, crackery wheat. Good.

Tap. Loads of yuzu, almost overpowering. Bit of wheat lingering there. Sweet and not overly exciting. Touch of ice cream.

Bottle frm Yamaoka. Cloudy gold with little head. Banana, peach, citrus and corriander aroma. Flavour starts with corriander and finishes with nice yuzu tartness.

On tap at Popeye. Served in a weissbier vase. Beautiful soapy head. Strong fruity aroma: banana, peach and a touch of citrus. Intense spice present when drinking: coriander, all spice, fennel. Nice carbonation. Spice and bitterness was a little overbearing for a typical witbier. Nice enough though.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2015 Bottle from the Ise Kadoya satellite shop in front of Ise Grand Shrine (Geku). Peachy perfumey nose, citrus, wheat, light spice. Hazy honey straw color, thin head. Deep fruity initial, with some peach and light banana, yuzu, and light hops. Medium body. Pretty sure this is not the same beer as the other Ise Kadoya White ale, which does not have yuzu. Tasty enough. The yuzu adds a slightly diffferent citrus note, one that may not be completely desirable. The spice also seems a bit excessive here.

Tap at 23 Craft Beers, Nagoya. Hazy orange color, good white head. Aroma has wheat and coriander. Light-bodied. Light wheaty flavor with light pepper. A bit light even for this abv.
