3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Foggy rufous. Towering white head exhibits stellar retention. Elegant nose of pencil eraser, perfumey plasticlike phenolics, tangerine oil, white grapefruit pith, plastery yeast, apricot jam, toasted bread, aniseed. Firm, expansive effervescence. Bottle-conditioned. Exuberantly phenolic and dry, yet not stark or hollow, with a trailing softness of rose petals and slippery tangerine-oil-laced hop vibrancy. Malt offers up refined cookielike notes and a gently toasty support as its feathery weight disperses dusty dextrins across the tongue. Leafy bitterness gently scratches the palate to provide contrast to the predominantly soft and flavorsome hops. Spicy and flowery hops combine with a dryly phenolic flourish to wrap things up in the perfectly uncomplicated and sophisticated finish. Wheras most U.S. brewers seem to prefer disproportionate balance with copious amounts of caramel and resin in their pale ales, this exemplifies brewing with a finessed touch. The balance here is truly extraordinary, as they have squeezed every last trace of oil from the Cascades, resulting in a seemingly ordinary pale ale which happens to be ceaselessly quaffable and chock full of hop flavor balanced by just a kiss of bitterness. And whatever yeast these guys are bottle-conditioning with is super cool and magical, as everything I have had from them has been a gusher and highly phenolic. Such a fun little beer.
Botella. Unclear amber colour, huge white head, frothy, well lasting. Heavy fruity hoppy aroma indeed (like really more IPA more than PA), lots of pine, light acid (in a good way). Flavour is fresh with a good very present fruity piney hoppiness, citrus, caramel and malt. Pleasant indeeed! mzaar (3463) - Varberg, SWEDEN - APR 3, 2017

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Translucent amber golden colour with a very faint trace of yeast sediments; Half finger head with soapy off-white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with active carbonation; Very fragrant aroma of Ale malt, with strong orange, moderate candied fruits, light marmalade, light peaches, passion fruits, honey, strong floral, fructose, strong spice, pine, light resin, dough, lemon peels and strong fresh grass; Close to light sweet taste of moderate Ale malt, with grapefruits, very light caramel, floral, molasses notes, light pine, spices, earth, dry biscuits, lemon, mid to strong bitter hops and sharp grass; Close to medium body. Dry and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is moderate Ale maltyness in a fairly solid background. Strong carbo and a bit poppy. Moderate, monotone grapefruit, with light caramel. Very flowery with low sweetness. Earthy spicy, biscuity with quite strong lemon to round. Simple but solid!... Hoppiness is strong orange, candied fruits, light marmalade, peaches, passion fruits, strong floral, strong spice, pine, light resin, lemon peels and fresh grass in nose. Grapefruits, floral, light pine, spices, earth, lemon and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, mid to high-astringent grassy malty finish. Dry after taste. Earthy grassy and quite bitter to mouth.
Comments: Compare to Golden Dragon session pale ale, this one’s hoppiness is a lot more confident and assertive in Cascade citrus and perhaps Challenger’s jammy characters. Taste is more or less on par with most APA but has a better malty body and strong carbo to back it up. All in all an enjoyable APA, if not spectecular. Get it if it’s not expensive.
Draught at TBE. Quite fruity with a juicy mouthfeel, orange and grape, light malt base, gentle hoppy finish. Better than I remember, very fruity and drinkable which tends to be how locals like their pale ales. willisread (3342) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - APR 27, 2015
On tap at CBM Jimbocho 2014. Hazy golden orange with a medium-sized off-white head. Aromas of pine resin, citrus and a touch of caramel. Taste is more of the same with the hops really standing out. Medium body with average carbonation. Bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2015 On tap at the Craft Beer Picnic. A lovely copper gold with a filmy white head & a luscious juicy citrus & pine c-hop bouquet. The sharp tongue scraping carbonation I except from hoppy beers but the body is a bit light. The taste is ok but not as nice as the nose: earthy pine and light citrus. A solid though uninspiring pale ale. ----On tap at Brick Lane Mar. 2015---- Ise kadoya pale ale deep gold huge nose of pine with light fruit great soft body. The taste is prickly hop bitterness with good sweetness to it. Well balanced. Camons (12447) - Hasselager, DENMARK - APR 14, 2014

Marked Nikenjayamochi Kadoya Honten Pale Ale at 5%.
Clear golden color, small white head. Sweet, acidic, sour, Brettanomyces scent. Thin, Brettanomyces, weird bitter taste. Astringent, bitter, husky, high attenuated aftertaste. Thin mouthfeel, high strange bitterness.
