Pleasant bitter aroma - a classic English bitter. Taste follows the aroma, but leads to a nice dry finish with all the bittering hops. Some staleness to the malts, mushrooms even. Palate a bit limp.

Cask. Excellent reddish pour, with beautiful creamy head. Decent malty nose. Solid malty character, very creamy and smooth finish. Buttery toffee. Somewhat nitrous-y, which may turn some off, but I’m a sucker for malt and cream. thepegjett (1281) - Cambridge (via Winnipeg), Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2012

Tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in October 2008. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale copper in colour with a thin white head. Slight eggy aroma with hints of sweet toffee in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with sweet toffee notes laced through. Flinty taste of harsh hop resins give a sharp bitter aftertaste which lasts through. Finish is bitter with metallic notes strong in the palate. An ok bitter but nothing special going on. mjs (7685) - Helsinki, FINLAND - NOV 11, 2011
(Cask at Angleterre, 20111111) The beer poured amber and clear. Aroma had sweetness and mildly berries. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, grass, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Not so pleasant aroma but taste was ok. dynamiteninja (1889) - Norfolk, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2011
