Draft at the cloverleaf. Black pour with tan lacing. Roasted and dry chocolate malt aromas. Flavor is roasted, chocolate, cherry and light sour tones, hasn’t fully bretted out. deyholla (12253) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 24, 2011
Growler. Pours a dark brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces nicely. Aroma is full of earthy malts with a bit of wood, funk and a good amount of roast and toast notes. Flavor begins with a slight sour red fruit backed by dark grains, but the finish is full of dark grains and roasted malts. Interesting and pretty enjoyable. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Draft, RBSG bus tour. Medium tan head, black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, some caramel, light Brett. Taste is moderately sweet, milk chocolate, sour, some caramel. Medium body, light acidity. beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - JUN 18, 2011
Growler filled at Big Z and consumed later the same day. Pours a very deep brown with wine red highlights just along the edge when held against a light. There is a moderate light brown head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, malt, and cherries. The aroma dissipates very quickly after pouring. The flavor is surprisingly different from the aroma but is equally enjoyable with lots of roasted malt, cherries, plums, with no chocolate to speak of. There is a twang of funk present as well that leaves a slightly metallic mouthfeel, which I wasn’t crazy about. Otherwise, a very enjoyable beer. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 16, 2011
draft at Coles & Blue Monk, Buffalo. Interesting but not really my cup of tea. Pretty dark pour. somewhat funky aroma, roasted malts, bananas. Wierd sour tartness that follows up a quick initial roastiness. Winey tartness, just doesnt seem to work for me, obviously it does for others considering the ratings, to each their own i suppose.

On tap at Capone’s, our first stop on the RBSG bus. Pours a deep black with a large beige to tan head. Big roast, chocolate, coffee, light hops on the nose. A touch sour, but not much, just very bright with loads of roast. Touches of sweet chewy roast, lots of malt, chocolate, long chocolate and roast. Excellent. jredmond (8644) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 12, 2011

On tap @ Sunset Grill. Pour is deep brown/black with a tan head. Aroma shows notes of roasted malt, cocoa, dark fruit, and a touch of funk. Flavor is exceptionally fruity with notes of raspberry/blackberry cordials and a hint of brett. Very interesting beer. TURDFERGUSON (4068) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUN 9, 2011
Tap at Capones. Black with a sudsy tan head. Lots of roast, some mild tartness. A little bit of cocoa, some light bitterness. Pretty good but got lost in the mix at Capones on this day. This beer should be aliased to Ithaca Dark Humor as it was a collaboration.
