Shared 0.75l corked bottle from 2009 #E018 @ NYC flat. This one has a surprisingly near clear looking soft blurry golden colored body with a huge white head. Smells lovely with a acidic nose. Loaded with citrus and sour gooseberries. It’s average on the carbonation and nice and oily in the mouth. Tastes really acidic and lemonic. Lots of tartness. Woody and oaky. Amazingly flavorful! Bottle - E027. Pours cloudy orange, small off-white head, a bit fizzy, some lacing. Aroma is oaky, very oaky, lemon, light Brett and basement funk. Flavor has some sweetness at the start, then light plus tart, medium funk with a rich Brett character, basement and musty leaves, very oaky, hints of lemon. Shared at a tasting hosted by Steebo on February 13. Not sure what batch it is from my notes. The pour is a golden copper with a nice big white head that leaves some awesome lace down the glass. The aroma is heavy on citrus, with a little surprise hoppiness before the funkiness takes it to the end. The Brett is real strong on the back end. There is a little wine-yness on the back also. The flavor is definitely sour. Lots of lemon. There is a hint of Belgian yeast and a wine and Brett funky sour ending. It’s pretty awkward, to me anyway. The mouth feel is really thin and extremely carbonated. There is a lot of fizziness that I’m not feeling here. The aftertaste is lingeringly sour with a combination of bready-ness and light wine. Bottle during RBWG Lobby Share. Pours a cloudy orange with small white head. The aroma is floral, brett, and oak. Medium mouth with nice funk, tart, lingering dryness, very nice.

750 ml bottle sampled many times from backlog notes. Pours a hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. 750ml bottle (E!027) in a tulip. Pours hazy golden / amber with a big, lacy, white head. Aroma of citrus and light tartness and fruits from the yeast, some light malts, hints of grains, some wine and oak, light Brett funkiness, and some light hop notes. Flavor the same with a great blend of the light tartness and the citrus and fruit notes from the yeast/bacteria. Smooth, lighter texture that a lot of good sours have. A really great beer. E010: Murky gold, white head, tons of carb but only a ring of bubbles. Aroma brings apricot. Musty. Funk, blanket. Medium body: slick texture. Tart, champagne-like. This is great. 8/3/8/4/16.
E018: same color, no head. Less tart, a little more fruit, some cereal. 8/3/8/4/15.
E037: slightly darker. More head. Lots of bubbles. Aroma: less appealing. Fruitier, maybe even some vegetal notes? Still tart. When I go back to the older version, I get some more aged Gouda/cheese (maybe because I’m also eating cheese?). 7/3/7/4/14.
Bottle: Had batches E!018, E!027, & E!037. Rating based on first sample of E!037. Thanks to Jeff. Gold, orange, & copper all huddled around a cloudy pour; fussy, thick-bubbled & volatile white head. Quick to recede, not leaving much behind. Aroma of musty lemon, bubblegum, Belgian yeast, cherry skin tartness, sour lacto, dry oak staves, damp hay-like Brett, & very faint, white wine twinge. Flavor is full of sourness; tart lemon flesh, tart pears, & other sour stone fruits; under-ripe & lightly acidic in nature. Puckering lactic acid near the back-end with hints of vinegar, dry & vinous wood, white grapes, & a kiss of tannin. Hints of Belgian yeast here & there, a touch of breadiness. Bottle at a Seattle tasting. Had a complete vertical of this. Rating Batch 1, e010. Hazy yellow-gold. Lemon spice, sparkly. Great yeast balance. Headrush sour, but soft balance. Really darn tasty. More fresh versions generally had a bit darker color and more hot sourness.
