Dark brown with a tan head. Lots of coffee aroma along with some malts, chocolate, a bit of smoke. Medium to full bodied with a decent amount of bitterness but balanced by a bit of sweetness. Very smooth, nice long finish. A great stout. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 17, 2010
A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s "Has anyone seen my stool?" tasting.Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 16, 2010
Black body with a tan head. Big malt and chocolate and an excellent tarry note. Smoky leather finish. Damn good beer.
750mL bottle. Poured deeper cola brown with a lovely initial cap of tan head.. if the head didn’t fizzle out so quickly, it would’ve been a 5. The aroma picked up a hefty dose of coffee that was chock fulla creamer.. warm and decadently sweet.. I wanted to warm some up, but it didn’t happen. The flavor found coffee and a touch of chocolate at the sweet core.. veins of lactic and green coffee bean sourness rode through the end.. a little fruit and berry influence along with roasty coffee and lightly soured milk on the long finish.. a tad sharp on the aftertaste. Medium-bodied and a bit grainy on the palate.. the sourness became slightly annoying by the end.. overall decent balance and flow. This was a very good brew that I’d gladly drink again. harrisoni (19187) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 22, 2010
Bottle at ChrisO "I’m Trying to see the Stool" pre GBBF2010 tasting. Thanks to shaun for this one. Very dark brown, lasting tan head. Lots of coffee, bit of ashtray, lovely coffee beer, good in mouth. Good coffee if a tad camp. VertBaconStrips (2395) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - AUG 21, 2010
Bottle at RBSG - thanks to someone! Huge chocolate nose.. man! Very big and soft and smooooooth. Coffee bean, oatmeal, some citrus hops but it’s quite light. The taste has a ton of coffee in it, peppers?, chocolate, mud, roasted things, very odd dark tropical fruit, ashes, licorice. Huge coffee and dirt. Finishes well enough to want more.

31st July 2010. ChrisOs Pre GBBF - ’Raise The Roof’ tasting. Opaque black beer, good tan head. Coffee - minerally on the nose. Rich sweet espresso coffee. Smooth. Some yeast. Nice. sm89walt (2080) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 9, 2010
750ml bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF ’Raise the Roof’ Tasting ’10. A typically attractive stout - dark brown, oily on the glass with a fine & creamy tan head. I’m no coffee expert but I know the difference between fresh and stale and the aroma reminded me mostly of a used filter with roasted malt notes coming through, making it slightly more appealing. Flavour-wise, it’s a different story. The coffee notes are crisper and fuller, accompanied by big mid choc tones and a demerara sugar sweetness with coffee and chocolate in the finish. Soft and quite dry mouthfeel, a touch oily with a medium length finish. Ungstrup (38248) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 6, 2010
Bottled. A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has strong notes of coffee, combined with medium notes of chocolate and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt.
