Dark brown pour with aroma of rye, caramel and spice. Malty flavor with rye, tropical fruit and caramel with a hint of spice Very nice. McGarnigle (651) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 29, 2016
750 ml. Big, strong, dark beer that doesn’t quite come together. Some spice and wood and some dark grains. I could do without the clove (is that added spice or just notes from somewhere else?). It says New Zealand hops with notes of tropical hops. Why would you add that to this? The ABV does leave you wobbly. DavoleBomb (1867) - Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2015
Poured into a snifter.
3.75 A: Black color. Two fingers of frothy beige head. Retention is about average and a 1/2 inch ring of lacing is left.
3.5 S: This sure is interesting. Oddly the first thing that stuck out was a sugary, dried pineapple aroma. Earthy, spicy rye. Hops offer a mix of herbal, tropical, and earthy notes. Plum, currants, and brown sugar. Caramel and bready malts.
3.0 T: The nose is chaotic, but it somehow works. The taste is more chaotic and doesn’t. I’m not sure what to make of this. It seems to be part black IPA, part barleywine, part brown ale, and part winter warmer. Again there’s a mix of tropical, herbal, and earthy hops. Rye adds its characteristic earthy spiciness. Spicy like a winter warmer. Caramel maltiness with perhaps a touch of toast. Sweet plum and currants. Brown sugar and molasses. Not bad, but not particularly good either.
3.25 M: Medium body, but I swear it feels heavy on some sips and light on others. Plentiful carbonation bordering on too much. Bubbly. Smooth.
3.0 D: Ehh, once is enough for this one.

Bottle. Malty, spicy nose, plums, caramel, grains. Cloudy, murky brown with orange, lace. Spicy rye flavor, caramel, malty and sweet. A bit bland but decent. phaleslu (10264) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 2, 2014
750 ml bottle that I think MacBoost sent to me as a bonus. Thanks! Or not, if I bought this locally. Pours a semi-cloudy amber-brown color with a beige head that settles quickly. Notes of rye, clove, and peppery spice, earth, caramel, earth, and muddled fruits. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and an earthy, spicy mouthfeel. Too muddled altogether. Lacks character. It isn’t bad, but it’s the one people seemed least interested in. Just doesn’t leave much of an impression, so it’s a strange choice for an anniversary release.

750 ml bottle. Dark ruby color with a thin cap of white head, not much lace. Aroma is toffee, rye malt and a pleasant fruity essence. zach8270 (4022) - Henrietta, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2014
Flavor begins with a fruity hops leading into a dusty rye malt and hints of dark fruit with maybe a hint of anise. Earthy tones in the backside. Medium body with a light watery texture. Really simple, kind of one dimensional overall.
(bottle - 750 ml) Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Mild dry rye aroma with some malt sweetness and a very light hint of hops underneath. Flavor is a bit spicier. Can get hints of the clove but they disappear quickly under the rye dryness. A bit mild overall but not bad. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2014
Pours thick mostly unclear ruby with a great sandy head and awesome lacing. Aroma brings some honey and a bit of spicey rye malts. Flavor had some bitter hop and the malts combined well, even after a year bottled. The flavors die but the body is nice and a bit creamy. Ricoslim (116) - - APR 16, 2014
Had this in a tasting thanks to my boy Prazack. Very interesting and complex beer. Color was golden/amber. The rye malt is present most in the taste. Not my favorite style but liked it none the less. BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - APR 12, 2014
Bomber. Murky amber pour. White head. Dark fruit and caramel. Mild carbonation. Slightly bitter late.
