Hazy peach pour with a vivacious off white head and a bit of sediment. The nose is pure fruit cocktail- apricot, mandarin, peach, orange, grapefruit, lemon, and juicy bubblegum. A slightly more resinous hop character follows in the form of herbals and citrus peels. The flavor holds much more bitter notes, with lemon, orange, grass, wheat grain, floral resin, and perfume. The palate is medium to full with light effervescence, making for a soft texture. Reeeallly yummy. craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2011
Cloudy amber pour with tons of sediment and a big frothy white head. Aroma holds fruit cocktail; pear, peach, mandarin orange, grapefruit, and a touch of mango. Very fruit forward hop profile, also including lemon zest, bubblegum, with the faintest touch of grass and herbs. Some nice sweet malt balance as well. Flavor is much more bitter, with lots of lemon, grass, wheat grain, and leafy and floral presence that balances out the nectar/citric fruit from the aroma. Mouthfeel has medium to full bodied, great effervescence that isn’t too aggressive, and the booze is hidden beautifully. Very very good stuff.. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 19, 2011
Pours gold with a white head. Smells of juicy citrus, grassy, spicy. Tastes of wheat, some caramel, perfumy hops, spicy. Love the nose on this one. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAR 18, 2011
Bottle:   Honey colored, like creamed honey, thick and cloudy, moderate white head, foamy, fairly nice lacing.   Has an American Oak aroma.   Don’t recall seeing that this beer is on Oak, but it sure smells like it.   Otherwise minor candied citrus peel.   Touch of pine, oak, citrus rind, and hops on the tongue.   Seems fairly smooth, not overly bitter.   I could see this being a bit wheaty, given its body.   Tangy, in a citrus way, mildly bitter, and a bit grassy.   This one is very interesting.   Yeah, zesty, semi-sweet, citrusy, wheaty, very interesting.   Still seems like its a bed of Oak I am getting.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Finish has a little bit of this powdery tang like presense.   Its like an IPA wrapped in Oak, with tons of citrus peel that isnt too astringent, with a touch of wheat to give it some body.   Somewhat of an odd duck, but it really works.   Thanks to jblauvs for the bottle! mlunger12 (645) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 18, 2011
750ml bottle shared with the tallahassee crew, aroma of a delicious Double IPA. Wow, this is a really good IPA, not much of a maltiness, quite delicious.

From a bottle poured a straw color with a good amount of head. Light malty citrus flavor with a lingering finish. Slipstream (2626) - USA - MAR 14, 2011
Draft from Whole Foods, recommended by Adrian. Dark gold pour. Rich aroma with a lot of what I thought was West Coast hops, but appears to be Citra and Sorachi Ace. I am still not enough of an expert to consistently identify hop varieties. Lots of rich, dry hops in the flavor - also peppers, mustard, some herbs, and orange peel/curacao. It gets more flavorful and aromatic as it warms, and I began to smell lemon and flowers. A first rate hop blast - an Imperial IPA imo - yet not too rough. Excelsior 13 was enjoyable every sip of the way, and there was no hint of nasty funk, something I have experienced with similar brews. Really good brew. 750mL foil-wrapped bottle, Batch # E!033. Pours bright, hazy orange, lively, with a fluffy 2-finger off-white head. Aromas of rich, sweet tropical guava and papaya, funky fruit, and citrus peel. The flavor is sweet fir (Christmas tree), sap, light flowers, chalk, and a bitter citrus rind finish with orangepeel and estery banana. Slightly sugary. Medium carbonation and body, smooth, and nearly creamy. Very tasty. Bright, citrusy aroma and flavor, and very drinkable.
