Floral and citrusy aroma, heavy head that slowly dissipated, earthy tones and citrusy finish.

From Apr 2008 I got this in a trade with nutbrown. Thanks Alan! The label says Batch E!005 and it pours from the 750ml beige(?) foil(?) caped bottle a hazy straw gold colour with a 1 finger head of foam and what looks like a lot of carbonation. It turns from hazy to cloudy with subsequent pours and that's what I was looking for. The smell is nice and spicy! Loads of cloves and pepper along with a god lemony nose. Judging from the smell, I think this one is going to be good. The taste is very peppery up front with the clove and lemon I mentioned in the nose. Yum. I like how the lemon works so well with the spices..no over powering from either direction, just a real harmony going on here and that makes it oh so drinkable...8%abv????..you gotta be kidding me! Very very well hidden! The more I sip, the more I notice the fine yeasty wheat flavour that kicks this brew up a few notches in complexity. And, despite how bubbly it looks in the glass, the carbonation is at a respectable light to medium light level and again, that works for me. Absolutely perfect mouthfeel for the style for me. This is truly a fine drinking experience and I'm further impressed with Ithaca Brewing's craftmanship. Btw, head retention is awesome and there's a lot of sticky lacing. I just thought you needed to know that. ;^) Bottom line: This is about as close to perfection in the style that I'm probably ever going find so...let the scores fall where they may. Wonderful drop!

Backlog, Many bottles from Capones, pours a hazy yellow with large head. Notes of pineapple brett, florals, citrus hops, and other yeast. Some more complex plum and belgian fruit as it warms but its so crisp and nicely hoppy. Delicious.

bomber from secret santa? bottle says pale ale; web site says Belgian?? different brew for me and probably not my style, but well done and a different brew for me - big white heady foam - aroma of tart citrus, yeast, funk, taste was high carbonation, lemon, citrus, tart, dryness at end.

Pours a super clear golden with a small white head on top that leaves nice lacing. Nose is of madeira, brown sugar, light alcohol and feels really oxidized overall. Taste is pretty sweet and offers cardboard-y caramel and toffee. Medium body, medium carbonation. Not sure of the age on this bottle but it is almost clinically dead now...

Bottle (750 ml) shared at tasting. Clear golden with a small bubbly white head leaving little lacing. Aroma is oxidized and carboard forward but it seems bad per se with rotten fruits, strong herbal notes, candi sugar and a disturbing sugary presence. Taste is sweet and oxidized with rotten fruits, herbal notes, weird spiciness and candi sugar. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Rotten fruits finish. Horrible.

Bottle 750ml. Pours clear golden with medium white head. Good lacing. Aroma is of oxydation, sugar, cardboard. Taste is of oxydation, sugar, barley sugar, bitterness, fruits. Palate: Full bodied. Soft carbonation. Overall: Over the hill, or this one was never adequate.

czar (9611) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 1, 2016
pours hazy bright gold with a small white cap offering minimal retention and lacing. rotten fruits, oxidation - old grass, white ice tea, spices, some sweetness - candi and honey; cardboard, yellow raisins, hint of citrus zest. moderate carbonation - could be brighter; light body - oily; semi-sweet spicy finish. disgusting.

Fridge lurker. Bomber. Batch E!049. Lovely aroma of Hay and pine. Opaque yellow body with an outrageous growing head. Fine sandy lacing left behind in patches. Body is biting sour and brett with a zesty zing of hop on the gentle wheat body. Decreasing body leads to enjoyable moderately long dry finish. A profound feeling of loss when I tried to fill the glass again and found the bottle to be empty.

Ithaca has its gems, this is one of them .. . quite a lot of brett yeast in this one to go with the light grain and straw. mild saaz on the end .. mouth is a bit on the spritzy side .. all and all, different and defining .. . . That’s a handsome banana, very appealing!!

Bottle thanks to Nathan. Pours a cloudy gold with small frothy white head. The aroma is strong funk, oak, fruity malt. Medium mouth, yeast, spice, oak, lingering dry finish. Very good.
